Vietnam has discreetly fortified several of its islands in the disputed South China Sea with new mobile rocket launchers capable of striking China's runways and military installations across the vital trade route, according to Western officials.
Diplomats and military officers told Reuters that intelligence shows Hanoi has shipped the launchers from the Vietnamese mainland into position on five bases in the Spratly islands in recent months, a move likely to raise tensions with Beijing.

Never thought I’d be applauding Vietnam but it’s nice to see someone standing up to the Chinese bandits*.
(*They hate being called bandits!)
............I think there are a lot of us who had our lives controlled and in some cases lost by events surrounding Vietnam in our late teens and twenties hope the Cong and NVA get their ass’s kicked. That said, most of us want cry a tear over dead Chinese soldiers either! Let the shooting begin!
A little further south they can find millions of muzzies to kill too if they want.
Here’s an interactive and fun related resource that one can use to see effects in various parts of China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.

And monkeys. Some have called them monkeys.
I seem to remember a dust up these two had back in 1979, it lasted for a month with many thousands of casualties on both sides.
Just be aware, Vietnam is not the same country it was. I know it is still technically, but it is also quite different now.
The average age of the people there is very young. I believe 24 and change. That means almost two entire generations have arrived now since the war there ended. And they won the conflict, I have to say, I have detected no animosity currently, toward Americans. We seem to remember it quite strongly still, but they seem to have moved on.
In fact the country seems quite well-behaved now. More than some of their neighbors.
There are still many people there, who were there during the war, but there are a whole huge lot of them who have zero connection whatsoever with what happened in the war.
It is a very interesting country. Probably not what you remember.
IRONY...
Vietnam has kicked China’s ass before. I’d love to see them do it again.
Neither the Viet-Cong or the NVA exist anymore. There is no “North” Vietnam.

As late as 2010, Sheila Jackson Lee did not know that.
She probably doesn’t know it now. She doesn’t know anything else.
True.
I appreciate your thoughts. And, I appreciate that many who served there and suffered much more than I are willing to forgive and forget. But, some of us aren’t.
