Team USA's swimming team are celebrating a double victory tonight after winning two gold medals.
Michael Phelps takes home his 19th gold after winning the men's 4x100m freestyle relay.
The 31-year-old, 22-time Olympic medalist, swam the second leg of the relay for Team USA - despite not competing in any freestyle events at the U.S. trials or in the preliminaries in Rio.
He was cheered on by his girlfriend Nicole Johnson, who was sat with their son Boomer, and Phelps' mom Deborah.

It was impressive. He looked to be about a half length behind at the turn and when he came up for air he was a half length ahead.
Phelps blew them out of the water in the relay, did you see him come off the wall after that turn???? He was 15 meters underwater and pumping his legs/feet like a dolphin’s tail, when he surfaced he had grabbed the lead away from the Frenchman. Amazing.
Was a nice race, and he kicked butt in his turn. Can watch the rerun over at nbcolympics.
I almost couldn’t believe what I was seeing! He stayed underwater while everyone else was on the surface slamming their arms around — Phelps passed the French guy UNDERWATER!
Like you said, he was moving through the water like a dolphin after pushing off the wall. Just incredible. No way we win gold without that move.
31 now, huh?
Good for him!!
Hillary just earned the Lead Medal on the 3 yard Stair Climb.....
My fave part was watching his teammate cry thru the Star Spangled Banner during the medal ceremony. Very touching!!

Good for him!!

I’m an ex boxer and out of boredom looked up “oldest boxers”.
They had a 73 year old guy who, while not hitting the bag as many times a minute as he did in his youth, was hitting HARD. And I can tell.
His workout routine was for a 35 year old.
It’s amazing how some people are kinda like freaks of nature when it comes to age and athletics.
It was a relay. Did Phelps swim it by himself. The excerpt doesn’t say...
LOL...
A well deserved Gong.
Outstanding!

Yeah, before last nights relay I questioned if he was in shape, too old, perhaps lost some juice, etc. but his performance last night answered those questions and doubts. Great performance by all four for sure.
It must be that famous Rio bong water.
I just see only the highlights of the summer games which includes Team USA winning in the swimming.
men’s 4x100m freestyle relay
Right there on the second line. Even leaving off the word relay. 4x100 means there are 4.
Phelps and 3 other guys, huh? One of the aspects of Olympic coverage that I hate. Phelps was pumped full of adrenaline and contributes to the win, perhaps decisively. But 3 other swimmers busted a gut and, for some of those, this will be their one shot at Olympic Glory.
