Hillary Clinton has emerged from the two major party conventions and their aftermath with an eight-point lead over Donald Trump, aided by a consolidation of support among Democrats and a failure so far by Republicans to rally equally behind their nominee, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Clinton and her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.), now lead Trump and his running mate, Gov. Mike Pence (Ind.), by 50 percent to 42 percent among registered voters, double the four-point advantage the Democrats held on the eve of the Republican convention in mid-July. Among likely voters, the Democratic nominee leads by 51 percent to 44 percent.
In a four-way race that includes Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein, Clinton leads Trump by 45 percent to 37 percent, with Johnson at 8 percent and Stein at 4 percent. Before the Republican convention, she had a four-percentage-point lead in a four-way matchup.

We spoke to a source who works at Nate Silvers political advocacy group fivethirtyeight.com.
RealTrueNews: Is it fair to say that Silver is worried?
538 Source: In a panic. Our business model is predicated on making liberals feel better about the election. Right now? Its a disaster.
RTN: So what are you doing?
538: Well, were changing the model for starters. There were a few hours when the server was showing the real projections and while traffic was pretty high, let me tell you, it was a melt-down politically.
RTN: What do you mean?
538: Well, Nates a liberal. No secret there. When he saw what was happening he flipped out. Had us look for bugssomething gone wronglooking at the feeds. Of course nothing was wrong. Nothing had changed. Then he got on the phone with his people embedded with Q-Pac and Survey Monkey and PPP and all those guys
RTN:Waitembedded?
538: Huh? Oh, yeahits a big social club. The pollsters all work together. We have a Slack-room thats sharing all kinds of results and skews and all that. Thats how we keep it all orderly.
RTN: Orderly?
538: Surewhat? You think its . . . random? Come on. Who do you think pays for the polls? People who want results. Youre buying media. Its like ads or . . . I dont know. Like newspaper stories? You pay 30k for a poll of Florida, it says what you want.
RTN: But what about on election day?
538: Ohwe drive it. You set the expectations ahead of time. Its called pre-loading. Youd be surprised how we can fine-tune things. Mass belief is powerful. The problem here is (a) not everyone plays nice. Fox is rogue. Rasmussen was . . . bad. They were doing real polling. Also, theres like a game of chicken. At the start of the cycle we do real polling so that everyone knows how they better buy in. This time . . . Trump just caught us by surprise. The impact was so bigit came on so fastHillary just collapsed.
RTN:Whatwhat happens next?
538: I dont know, man. There are a bunch of smaller groups out there doing real polls. I dont know if anyone can keep this under wraps. They had to talk Silver off the edge of the building yesterday. It was bad.
RTN: He was literally going to throw himself out a window?
538: Yeahhe waswell, but were on the second floor. He was just really pissed. I mean, he got a call from the White House telling him to fix it and shit.
RTN: Wow.
538: Wow is right.

Ah, just in time for the local hacks on morning TV “news” to trumpet the demise of Trump.
**Are they only calling people with a landline?
I got rid of mine years ago.
**Are the only calling people who pick up on the first few rings without them leaving a message?
I never (or very rarely) answer unknown phone numbers without first listening to their voice message. I first wanna know what do you want?
**People should be able to respond via texting if they chose.
That gives you a moment to think about what you’re saying vs blurting something out just to end the call.
I'm pretty sure they had Reagan further down in August 1980.
All polling this cycle is completely worthless except for observing trends within the same poll/methodology.
The Special Sauce all pollsters use to normalize and extrapolate for age, gender, race etc. have no relevance with so many Democrat and Republican defections. Each candidate is likely to suffer a 20-30% loss of their own party, and conversely benefit from the same.
ALL polls this cycle, no matter have bad or favorable, are sh!t.
This is a unique year. The never Trump tantrum continues after being green lighted at the convention by Cruz. I don’t believe these tantruming never Trumpers. They just want to continue the primary and their tantrums another 3 months. Then they will vote Trump in the end. A Hillary SCOTUS is to terrifying even for them.
I was called Tuesday evening (on my cell phone) by ABC News.
I guess I should have answered each question as if I was supporting the Hildebeast, but I answered honestly and with 100% support for Trump. At the end of the interview the caller asked me if I would be willing to talk to an ABC News reporter if they called. Of course I answered “absolutely”!
Great nickname.
Who reads the Post?
“the drive-by poster has stopped by to crack wise”
Pretty thin skinned ...I think you should find a quiet, safe place.
Yeah...not buying any poll results from ABC/NBC/CBS/Reuters. I'll wait to see what the Quinnipiac polls and others say.
I agree that all the poll out now that I’m seeing have to be bogus. There is no way Clinton is 8-15 pts ahead of Trump. The way they are cooking these numbers using registered voters, overweighting the Dems outrageously and playing down the Indie sample.
If Bernie had 40% agains’t Hillary and even 50% of those vote for another candidate or sit home or a combo of both she is in real trouble. Also Trump is popular with blacks. He gets 15% of the black vote and she’s toast.
Trump’s social media organization is unsurpassed. He has and is going past the MSM and directly to the voters.
One more damaging document dump will not only hurt Hillary but the rest of the Dems as well - especially if the Clinton Crime Foundation is the subject!
