Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) is trailing her Democratic rival, Gov. Maggie Hassan, by 10 points in what has been one of the tightest Senate races in the country, according to a new poll from WBUR Radio.
The poll, which was conducted between July 19 and Aug. 1, shows 50 percent of respondents saying they would vote for Hassan if the election were held today, compared with 40 percent for Ayotte. Ayotte is one of the most vulnerable GOP senators up for reelection in a year in which Republicans can afford to lose only three seats if they hope to maintain control of the Senate.
The boost for Hassan also mirrors the surging popularity of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire. Clinton leads Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump 47 to 32 in the state, according to the same poll. Her favorability rating also climbed to 45 percent from 35 percent in May. Meanwhile, Trumps favorability fell from 33 to 29 percent.
Democrats were happy to blame Trump for Ayottes decline. Ayotte has long said she will vote for the GOP nominee, despite criticizing Trump for his feud with the parents of Army Capt. Humayun Khan, who was killed in Iraq in 2004. Trump responded by bashing her as a weak and disloyal leader, comments that have not dissuaded Ayotte from backing him, according to aides.

Pushed over the top by Laura Ingraham for her genitalia while Lamantagne was the real conservative.
Voting more conservative might not have helped with today's New Hampshire electorate. New Hampshire's not a Republican state anymore, and this isn't a Republican year.
Ayotte (NH) - 2016 - 41% (Average) - 33% (Creview) - 24% (Heritage) - 27% (Freedomworks) - 60% (CFG) - 63% (ACU)
Okay, how many of those groups are Washington elitists that we're supposed to hate so much nowadays? Some of them are on the Cheap Labor Express, aren't they?
Not that simple in Ayotte's case. If we end up with a liberal Democrat at least we know she's on the other side. Ayotte will undercut the Republicans and be the "cross the aisle" Senator who speaks out against Republicans.
If she wins you'll see her on the news as the "even some Republicans are against President Trump" Senator.
Why do you think she didn't go to the convention? To help elect Trump or to try to show her "liberal" credentials?
It is hard to know if she will help or hinder us going forward.
“Okay, how many of those groups are Washington elitists that we’re supposed to hate so much nowadays? Some of them are on the Cheap Labor Express, aren’t they”
It is hard to keep track of all the people and groups we’re supposed to hate these days. As Gilbert and Sullivan said I’ll put her on my list.
That’s why I take an average, to get an apples to apples to apples comparison to other senators.
“Keep in mind that the 115th Senate convenes on Jan. 3rd. The new president is sworn in on the 20th. If the Senate is lost, expect 2 Supreme Court justices to be rammed through if Trump wins....”
If Trump wins, we’ll keep the senate. These senate candidates are generally running a few points ahead of Trump so if he wins by 2, they’ll probably win by 5.
Except we will know, beyond all doubt, that a liberal Dem will hinder us, always.
Given these options, I’ll take being hindered sometime over being hindered always....... always
Is that all you can come up with?
Does not surprise me coming from a big McConnell supporter.
You were his biggest fan here when he was up for re-election
in KY.
Yes, I see what you mean - things like the Supreme Court thing raised are such small potatoes, aren’t they? Ridiculous.
You just have your standard, formulaic responses to give because you can’t ever debate the merits. Nothing I said was inaccurate - but you said was...usually is. Your response is pretty much identical to what I pictured it would be. You have no substance - when you false statements are refuted you just engage in personal attacks - with no regard to how true or untrue the statements may be. I remember on another thread you also claimed I was in full support of the racist ads run against Chris McDaniel in Mississippi among other blatant falsehoods.
Yes, I was very much against elevating the Lundergan establishment back into power and the devastating effects it would have had on this Commonwealth. I make no apology for it. I was just against her in her run for re-election for Secretary of State. Told you that before the last time you spewed that nonsense.
Try a factual argument for a change and quit being nasty for no apparent reason.
You can’t handle facts.
The fact is you supported McConnell big time over Bevin in the GOP
senate primary several years ago. You were wrong then, and you are still
wrong.
