Speaker Paul Ryan suggested Thursday that his endorsement of Donald Trump for president is not written in stone.
In a radio interview with WTAQ's "The Jerry Bader Show," the Wisconsin Republican was asked if there would ever be a bridge too far when it comes to the GOP presidential nominee.
"None of these things are ever blank checks," said Ryan, who then added that Trump won the Republican nomination "fair and square" from the voters and delegates.
At the beginning of the interview, Bader asked Ryan how he can continue to walk such a fine line from now until the election of still backing Trump, while constantly criticizing his remarks.
"We are a party where the grassroots Republican primary voter selects our nominee. That's as it should be. That is what it is. I think something should be said about respecting those voters," Ryan said. "He won it fair and square."
Ryan brushed off Trump's comment from earlier this week in which Trump said he's "not quite there yet" as far as endorsing Ryan for reelection. Ryan said he's only interested in endorsements from employers in his congressional district. Paul Manafort, Trump's campaign chairman, told "CBS This Morning" on Thursday that Trump plans to support Ryan.

Sounds to me like Ryan is trying to show (minimal) support for Trump, in his own way. I am taking this as a gesture on his part, to improve things. And taking it with a grain of salt, or however the old saying goes.
From Ryan that’s an invoice, not a check.
Ryan has certainly become an arrogant little wanker.
ESAD Ryno!!
Are there any FRiends in WI CD1? Do you have a sense of the mood there?
It would so sweet if Nehlen managed to Cantor Paul Rino.
poofter.
Ryan! Listen instead of jawing endlessly. Khan your golden boy called you a coward. Just keep confirming his opinion of you. Thanks.
(I know Butch Patrick is still alive.)
Obamas blank check to Iran.
Ah , Iran prefers cash , Pallets of Cash
Not true
“If true, this report confirms our longstanding suspicion that the administration paid a ransom in exchange for Americans unjustly detained in Iran,” said Ryan, R-Wis. “It would also mark another chapter in the ongoing saga of misleading the American people to sell this dangerous nuclear deal. Yet again, the public deserves an explanation of the lengths this administration went to in order to accommodate the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.”
The globalists corner fools like Ryan and promise them the world if they play ball and do their bidding. So that makes Ryan think he is special and inevitable. He may be in for a surprise next Tuesday.
Freudian slip if you ask me. He wants to be paid.
“”None of these things are ever blank checks,” said Ryan, “
Except the ones promised to the Establishment from donors and special interests once the deals have been consummated.
Please, Wisconsin, rid us of this insufferable jerk!
I WISH we could get rid of Ryan. But i predict he will win easily on Tuesday
Ryan is a lying RINO and barely rises to that level as opposed to being a democrat. From lying about being Catholic to lying about resisting Obama he’s nearly as bad as Hillary who can’t speak two sentences without stuffing a lie into them.
I’m nowhere near any line of succession and I knew about it in January or February when it was all over the news.
The only new detail in the recent story is that the ransom was paid in physical cash. Republicans in congress, including Ryan demanded an explaination at that time. The story gained no traction and disappeared. Apparently nobody cared, until the fact that it was a plane load of currency came to light. Ryan has demanded an explaination all along, Obama has ignored him, as he always does.
So far your support seems a lot like a three dollar bill, Ryan.
I think your right, unless a huge number of Democrats show up to unseat Ryan he will win the Primary easily. If he losses, the seat goes to the Dem in the fall.
The more important question to me is how does Trump think he can win Wisconsin if he helps the democrats unseat Ryan? How does he get any support from Wisconsin Republicans? Why is he willing to write off Wisconsin electoral votes to spite Ryan? It makes no sense to me.
