It takes some poking around, but is interesting. So much of Alaska has no roads and no people, but lots of folks completely off the grid.

The train runs from Anchorage to Fairbanks and stops when someone wants off to get to their homestead. And then stops for folks waiting rail side to be picked up. It’s pretty cool.

There’s a LOT to poke around in at the site. I poked a little before saving it.

Pretty hard to maintain a lot of roads up there due to the winters y’all have. Cold temps and snow wreak havoc on pavement. Cool that the trains stop to pick up people in the middle of nowhere so they’re able to get to town for supplies. Takes a certain type to be able to live off the grid, especially up there.

I saw one of the parents come in with some sticks and wondered what on earth he/she was eating within the bundle.

Never saw but one. I had to finish watching my show. :)

I probably won’t be here tomorrow night. I’ve been invited to an election night bash (our primaries for State and U.S. offices are tomorrow) and those usually run pretty late. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow night.
