RUSH: Now, back to Bill Hemmer's question earlier today on Fox. He was talking to Karl Rove, and he said (summarized), "Karl, what if everything we think we know and understand about politics is wrong this year? What if every way we look at it is not at all correct? What if what's going on out there," meaning in America, "is so foreign, and so different, and so unique that the ways we...?" He really meant Rove and the whole Washington establishment political apparatus.
"What if the way you look and analyze things, you can't possibly predict or poll it because you don't know what is animating people. You don't know what's driving them. You don't know..." In other words, the normal things that you would think would make a candidate stronger don't even apply. That was the essence of the question. Look at this. There were a couple of primary election days yesterday. One was in Missouri, and there was one in Kansas, and a Never Trumpist -- an ardent Never Trumpist -- lost.
Tim Huelskamp, who was a rabidly anti-Trump incumbent (many thought of him as a Tea Party Republican) got skunked in the primary. He was defeated by somebody named Roger Marshall. And it wasn't even close. It was a 12-point landslide defeat for an incumbent Republican who went big on being a Never Trumper. Tim Huelskamp, Republican incumbent, got 44% of the vote. Roger Marshall -- and this was with all the votes counted, 100% of the precincts reporting -- got 56% of the vote.
Now, I wouldn't say that this is along the lines of Eric Cantor losing, but I will venture to say that this has stunned and shocked a lot of people in the Republican Party in Washington.
Nothing against Huelskamp here. That's not my point here. I'm just pointing out that a relative unknown in a Republican primary ran against somebody on the basis that he loved Trump. He liked Trump, he wants Trump, and he's running against an incumbent who's making a big deal out of being a Never Trumper. And the Never Trumper lost in a landslide. It's just one state. Could be an outlier; we don't know. There haven't enough of these primaries to know so we can't draw any conclusions from it, but it does raise eyebrows out there within the elite circles of the elite.

Suck on that, Huelskamp.
This is what the uniparty republicrat rinos fear.
AND IT WILL BE HAPPENING QUITE OFTEN THIS YEAR.
Buckle up sweetcheeks.
Awesome!
Ryan -take note and watch how it’s done —there’s a tsunami out there with your name on it that will sweep you out to sea!
We'll know next Tuesday (Ryno primary).
Btt
What it mainly comes down to is the observation of Upton Sinclair: "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it!"
This is also interesting because Cruz coasted to a win in the caucuses.
Don’t get your hopes up for ousting Ryan. Obama is assisting him. There will be a ton of RATS voting for him and unless the votes against him are of in a proportion not seen in a long time, he will retain his job. And when he does, he will be the tip of the spear FOR OBAMA’s AGENDA and against TRUMP. He will have nothing to fear at that point.
Oh wait, didnt see the dates. sorry.
This race really wasn’t so cut and dry. Huelskamp would not normally be considered part of the ‘establishment’...and, in fact, Marshall campaigned on this - pointing out that Huelskamp was kicked of the Agriculture Committee, for not ‘going along’.
At the same time, Marshall’s campaign was being funded by...the establishment...ie the chamber of commerce.
If it weren’t for Huelskamp pronouncing himself as a nevertrumper, the story of this election would be of a ‘moderate conservative’ Marshall beating a conservative Tea Party incumbent. And honestly, after suffering through several hundred ads in this race, I don’t remember Trump being brought up even once.
Kansas politics are strange...a constant tug of war between ‘conservstive’ and ‘moderate’ republicans. Ten conservative republicans at the state level got primaried yesterday - so the pendulum has swung (due to our governor’s current unpopularity). It’ll swing back again.
Here is something that may influence things. ; )

Wow, fingers crossed and praying...
I have to admit, I’ve heard two different takes on this.
One is that presented in this thread, that Huelskamp lost because he was a never Trumper feeling the wrath of the voters.
The other is that he was a Tea Partier who couldn’t get along with people in Washington, and who was flooded by a bunch of out of state and chamber of commerce money.
Might have been a little of both.
That’s GOPe spin.
Hope this is the beginning of a trend.
Go Nehlen!
UPDATE: Toxic Ted Cruzs First Victim Confirmed Representative Tim Huelskamp Defeated in Primary
However, one of Toxic Ted Cruzs biggest republican advocates, Tim Huelskamp (Kansas), looks like he is about to lose lost his re-election bid with a primary challenge from Roger Marshall.
Tim Huelskamp is a rabid, VERY RABID, Trump hater. He was one of the inner network republican house rep #NeverTrump antagonists, and a full-throated Ted Cruz supporter. A really nasty piece of work.
Me: Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
(ow, my side)
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Sorry for any double-pings - thought you all might like watching this loser crash and burn.
