A bipartisan coalition of 40 combat veterans, family members of military personnel killed in the line of duty and a veteran serving in Congress sent a letter to Donald Trump on Monday calling his criticism of the Muslim American parents of an Army soldier who was killed in Iraq "unacceptable" and an affront to each of them.
The letter, which was shared with The Washington Post and says it is not a partisan attack, was sent to Trump Monday via United States Postal Servicee, FedEx and Uber's courier service. It calls for Trump to apologize.
Organizers said they plan to add many more signatories by opening it up online for broader national participation. The list of signatories includes highly decorated combat veterans including Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, who was a supporter of Ted Cruz's presidential campaign. Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), who served in Iraq as a Marine Corps infantry officer, is also on the list.
"To the military and veterans community, nothing is more sacred or honored than our Gold Star parents," says the letter, referring to parents whose children were killed in the line of duty. "Their personal sacrifice, the loss of a child, is the unimaginable. This week, when you chose to disparage the family of an American soldier who gave his life in combat, you chose to disparage all of us.

"I think this situation speaks quite well to Trump's blatant lack of fitness for office," said James Waters, a former George W. Bush administration White House aide and Navy SEAL. Waters said he is a Republican who is not voting for Trump.
Zach Iscol, a Marine combat veteran who served in Iraq and is a Democrat, said of Trump: "He bullies a lot of people. You do not bully a Gold Star family."

“Trump is an idiot; one unforced error after another. Hes not even a Christian, and the ultra-Christian folks at FR kiss his butt. Unbelievable.”
You’re on the wrong board. Go not believe it somewhere else.
Longevity here may not be much defense as this plays out.
No apology at all. Just move on. If someone asks his answer should be “I think the family has their rage aimed at the wrong person. I didn’t vote for the war that their son died in. I haven’t called for the removal of any muslim Americans. I have only called for a ban on immigration from areas where civil war and unrest has been prevalent. I respect them and their sacrifices, but I will not allow the media to take swings at me, then run back and hide behind this poor families and their tragedy and say what a bad man I am.”
This is a barrage on Trump. That’s why I think apologizing for the things I specified and moving on is best. If there is an apology, it takes some wind out of the media’s sails, perhaps helps with undecideds, and shows a humility that people say he doesn’t have.
Blow it out your tailpipe. He’s more Christian acting than Hillary any day of the week.
Besides, I’m not voting for pope. Clown.
We can be grateful for DM's service while being repelled by his naivete.
And sadly, some folks will never learn . . .
If the idea of a “Gold Star” is that those who have it can use it as a sword rather than a shield i.e. as here someone with impunity can attack for political purposes another person than it isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.
It’s clear those who sent this letter intended it for purely political purposes because it goes to the Compost the ones with the greatest interest in attacking him because Trump pulled their press credentials. And a closer look at some of the names and their prior associations confirm the further political whoring of this ‘Gold Star’ .
Did I defend Hillary? No. Blow it out your tailpipe, retardo.
I don’t think this is related to a Tweet. I think this is related to the interview with George S.
That's too bad. I know of a GS mother who used her visibility - limited as it was - to castigate George Bush and our involvement in Iraq at a time when doing so was more than just unhelpful to the mission. One member of her late son's unit put it this way: "She canceled out all the good that (her son) did." That was the first time I had really thought about how easy it is for either side of an issue to use an organization like the GS families in order to automatically confer some sort of moral superiority to a family member where it may or may not be merited.
If this nation is really verklempt about what Trump actually said, then its citizens deserve Hillary, and the PC military currently being created is the PC military the citizens deserve. Maybe it truly is time to sit back and watch this collection of fools commit societal suicide.
Mr. niteowl77
I would like to ask this Zach Iscol character how does Trump questioning “Why doesn’t the woman speak?” constitute bullying?
How can a Marine Corps combat veteran, a former Navy SEAL, and high-ranking former military officers support a political party.....namely, the democrats....who have ruined the military and will continue to do so if Hitlery is elected?
And Dakota Meyer, Medal of Honor recipient? I hope his mother-in-law....AKA Sarah Palin....reads him the riot act.
Exactly, a goldstar doesn’t give you a license to undermine America by bringing in hundreds of thousands of Moslim throwbacks.
Mr. And mrs. Gold star are more loyal to the Muslim faith than they are to America.
That’s the other party in the election moron. You are full-on attacking Trump, ergo, you are helping hillary.
Because everyone knows what Trump said about the wife was NOT out of bounds and it was fair game to launch a political attack against them after they did so to him.
Trump was foolish, as he often is. He loaded his enemies’ guns with bullets. And this guy is supposed to be a clever deal-maker?
