Delano: Can we bring back coal jobs as Donald Trump says? Can we bring back steel jobs?
Clinton: Well, we can certainly bring back steel jobs because once we really handle the unfair trade practices that have undercut our steel industry causing layoffs and plant closures, were going to make it really clear to the rest of the world were not sitting by and watching our steel industry go any further down.
Delano: But what about coal?
Clinton: Coal is a different issue because weve got to figure out is there a technology that can create clean energy from coal?
Clinton wants to invest in research to find clean ways to burn coal but suggests our mill towns need to look beyond coal.
Clinton: If we put our minds to it, were going to revitalize coal country. Towns that have been knocked flat, were going to help them get up. We can do that with infrastructure, with advanced manufacturing. We can do that with clean energy. So Im excited because there are lots of examples of whats working. Pittsburgh look at the way Pittsburgh has reinvented itself. I remember what Pittsburgh looked like 30 years ago, Jon. I was here, and Im thrilled, she said.
In other words, Hillary just told coal miners to find other work. Disgusting.

Obama won Pennsylvania by carrying the coal areas. Playing Hillary on a loop in those media markets saying she’s going to put the coal miners out of work should reverse that nicely. There are significant coal areas in Ohio as well where that could be affected.
Spot...I have only seen this actually argued in a campaign once in that way - to expand it beyond just the coal miners to demonstrate the domino effect:

That’s the way you do it. I’ve been at a loss for words when other campaigns just generically say “I’ll protect coal” and don’t explain how it affects those that aren’t coal miners. That’s pretty much the way Romney did it and that was beyond irritating.
Yes, but burning coal produces CO2 unavoidably, no matter how much the coal is "scrubbed."
It's the CO2 they want to control.
Of course they don't mention that "alternative" energy solutions, such as electric cars, end up burning more coal in the re-charging, plus adding scads of more toxic stuff to the air, water and ground..
But nobody ever accused liberals of rational thinking.
