An elderly priest has been killed in a hostage situation in a church south of Rouen, Normandy, northern France this morning by alleged Islamist attackers. His killers, who are understood to have been shot dead by French police.
UPDATE 1320 — Islamic State claims responsibility, French President François Hollande confirms terrorist attack Media sources associated with the Islamic State have claimed the Rouen terror attack as their own, remarking that two of their own “soldiers” were responsible. Shortly beforehand the French President François Hollande told press that it was an act of terrorism and that both attackers had proclaimed their allegiance to the Islamic State. He called it a “disgusting attack”..

Hollande found the attack disgusting. Now we know that he wasn’t eagerly watching it and munching popcorn. How reassuring.

My heart grieves.
We are told to respond with love and forgiveness as individuals to acts that are committed directly against us personally, but the government is ordained by God to wield the sword to ensure justice and to maintain an orderly society. Many Christians, especially today with the liberalism infecting so many churches, think that the only biblical response to evil is pacifism. That is completely wrong.
If the pacifist Christians were correct, then we would disband our military and police and open the prisons and free all the prisoners. That, in itself, would be evil because we would be responsible for unleashing evil upon innocent victims. We are to protect the innocent.
No, the proper response to this vile Islamic murder spree is to utterly crush them. This cancer will only spread at an ever accelerating rate unless we destroy their will to fight. That's going to take much more than pinprick attacks. Think something closer to WWII than the current anemic drone strikes. Of course, we know there is only one candidate for President who is willing to do what is necessary.

You would think if you listened to Trump very long that there were terrorists sawing the heads off Priests in their own churches or something. That just isn’t reality. /sarc
So why didn’t the parishioners blow him away first, with their full-auto assault rifles, derringers, or BB guns?
I hope that this wakes up the Pope, and starts the mobilization of the Catholic Church.
On a personal note, this atrocity has angered me more than most any other.
I have been to war several times with islamists, talked with many of them and studied a good bit of their doctrine. I consider myself jaded with their brutality. Even 9-11 did not surprise me, while most were shocked and unbelieving.
But for some reason, this one particularly angers me. Literally, if their were a call up, I would volunteer.
No more half measures against these monsters.

Our so-called leaders obviously don’t give a sh$t if us commoners get shot, hacked to death, beheaded, exploded, crucified or burned up.
Until it affects them, they will do NOTHING BUT COVER IT UP.
And by the time they become affected, it will be too late.
