Sacramento Republican will rip Trump in Democratic convention speech

On the night that Hillary Clinton accepts the Democratic Party’s nomination for president, Sacramento Republican Doug Elmets, who worked in the Reagan White House and spearheaded construction of a statue of the late president at the California Capitol, will deliver a blistering critique of Donald Trump at the Democratic National Convention.

In his Thursday night address, the Sacramento public affairs consultant will call Trump a “petulant, dangerously unbalanced TV star” and contrast him with Ronald Reagan, he said Monday.

Elmets previously said publicly that he planned to vote for Clinton. Still, he said people will be “a little bit shocked” by what he called a “pretty provocative” speech. In his remarks, he will seek to persuade Republicans and independent voters to shift their support to Clinton.

“I believe that four years of Hillary Clinton is better than one day of Donald Trump as president,” he said Monday.

WTH happened to hollywood from the days of Wayne, Stewart and ever later on, Heston?

At this point, I'd settle for Wayne and Garth.

It’s always been lies to smear a guy who got a little too close to the target (communists in government). The blacklist was actually done by the Hollywood studios, *not* Congress. The public in the ‘50s were not too happy about Communists in Hollywood, so the studios were forced to blacklist the most visible in order to keep ticket sales going.

A professor in college was going on about the McCarthy blacklist and a girl finally stood up and said, “Are you missing the word ‘House’ in HUAC? McCarthy was a senator and had nothing to do with that committee. I should have married that girl!

The only one that comes to mind is Zell Miller. I think he had already decided to never run for public office again anyway.

Former Governor Zell Miller (D) from Georgia spoke at the 2004 RNC Convention. Honestly, I like the man - to me he was a different kind of Governor. One of my friends got to meet him and he got me an autographed book called “A National Party No More.”

On the night that Hillary Clinton accepts the Democratic Party’s nomination for president, senile Sacramento RINO Doug Elmets, who worked in the Reagan White House and spearheaded construction of a statue of the late president at the California Capitol, will deliver an unconvincing critique of Donald Trump, and make a fool of himself. How embarrassing!

“Doug Elmets, who worked in the Reagan White House”

This Doug Elmets was 22 yrs old when Reagan was elected in 1980. I’ll bet that his claim that he “worked in the Reagan White House” is a gross exaggeration.

Somebody had to set up the coffee and refill the President’s jelly bean jar back then.

No one who has any pride in Reagan and his accomplishments and this nation would ever endorse Hillary or speak at the DNC.

I was not a Trump supporter, and while I will vote for him, it is not because I am enthused by him or some of his policies. It is because I shudder when I consider the consequences of Hillary as President.

I can sympathize with (but not agree with) Cruz whose beef with Trump is personal and visceral. I can also sympathize with never Trumpers who can’t, for various reasons support him, vote third party if you must.

However, there is no excuse possible for anyone who has even a shred of conservatism or respect for our institutions to actively campaign for Hillary Clinton nor the Democrat Party. This is beyond the pale, it is an act of someone who has surrendered themselves to the statists and collectivists.

Is the CA GOP so far gone that they won’t kick this guy out before he even flies home?

“Is the CA GOP so far gone that they won’t kick this guy out before he even flies home?”

Pretty much, although the rot involved really goes all the way up to the national GOPe.

In the last primary election, 2014, Tea Party conservatives supported Tim Donnelly. The CA GOPe and their national party comrades mounted a vicious attack against Donnelly, calling him an extremist who would ruin election chances all over the country. Some of the GOPe names spouting this lie were Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, Condi Rice, Karl Rove, Darrel Issa, Hugh Hewitt, Michael Medved.

The guy that the CA GOP chose for Governor was a Hindu Obama supporter named Neel Kashkari. He voted twice for Obama. He supports amnesty for illegals, gay marriage, abortion. So that’s the current state of the CA GOPe, they are as alien to grassroots conservatives as anything coming out of the Obama Democrats.
