Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said Saturday hes already begun restoring the voting rights of convicted felons one-by-one, after the state Supreme Court rescinded his executive action granting voting rights en masse to more than 200,000 people convicted of serious crimes.
Last night I instructed my staff to comply with the courts order and individually restore the rights of the more than 13,000 Virginians who had successfully registered to vote following my April 22nd executive order, Mr. McAuliffe said in an email to supporters. Soon they will have their rights back and will be able to have a voice in their society once and for all.
Mr. McAuliffe, a Democrat and longtime ally of Hillary Clinton, said hes also ordered his staff to start working through the entire list of more than 200,000 Virginians whom we have identified as eligible to have their rights restored according to the criteria I have set.

How can the governor unilaterally decide voting rights? Can someone explain please.
In Virginia the governor is term limited to one term only. Of course, maybe McAuliffe will try to change that too.
The court objected to “an unnamed class of felons” being pardoned because that was apparently the best argument offered. Pardoning them individually seems to cover that objection.
this is why he ran..to secure VA for Hitlery.. and guess
what, that is what he is doing.
Most states restore voting rights to felons once they are released from prison. In Ohio you can vote from jail if you have not been convicted yet. There are different laws but most restore the right.
IIRC, they can petition the state of Ohio, and maybe in other states, to restore their rights to own a gun.
IIRC, in Ohio they can but it is rare. Voting rights are restored routinely.
Why should ALL rights not be restored after a person has done their time and are released from prison and probation.
Yes, Mills Godwin. I read that there is a current controversy about naming another school for Godwin because he was at one time an avowed segregationist. But the voters of Virginia re-elected him in the mid 70s, long after segregation was an issue in Virginia.
When it is found that he allowing murderer’s and rapist’s the vote, his Party will be crushed.
Different school, different man. Harry Flood Byrd Middle School, my son went there as well. That is the one getting a new name, he was the segregationist.
It does not address the issue that the Virginia legislature passed a law, which was presumably signed by the governor at that time, which prohibits the restoration of voting rights for felons.
Unnamed, or through a process of pretending to be named, does not address the fact that this is a deliberate attempt by the governor to nullify that law without going through the proper legal process for doing so.
In any case, Republicans need to throw up every possible legal obstacle to prevent this obvious and deliberate attempt to stack the electorate for Hillary using the excuse of alleged "civil rights".
The controversy I referred to occurred this past March in Prince William County and involved renaming Mills E. Godwin Middle School for George M. Hampton. One of the cited reasons was that Godwin was an avowed segregationist. It had nothing to do with Byrd. I can’t post the link but if you Google Mills Godwin, the first few entries cover the controversy.
Didn’t know about that one
Dinesh D’Souza can scoot over for a short time and get his voting rights restored.
I don’t suppose the miserable LIEberal sonofabitch can be impeached, can he?
Is there any way that this illegal action can be stopped?
Well, isn’t he special.
What a smarmy little git.
