NY Times: Make America Hate Again
NY Times ^ | July 22, 2016 | Timothy Egan

Posted on 07/22/2016 5:16:27 AM PDT by Zakeet

They didn't riot in the streets of Cleveland, as Donald Trump said his supporters would do had things not gone his way. But you saw the raw essence of a riot, the madness and loss of reason, on display in four days of chaos at the Republican National Convention.

For a campaign now devoted to "law and order," the launch was mob rule: in spirit, in tone, in words. Long after we've forgotten Trump's closing speech - that paean to self, that nightmare portrait of an America where the lights have gone out - we will remember the savagery just below the surface.

Starting on night one, when Republicans chose to manipulate the grief-deranged mother of a terrorist victim, the build-up to the hanging of Hillary Clinton was never subtle. Imagine if one party had exploited a widow of one of the 241 service members killed in the 1983 suicide bombing of Americans in Beirut — the deadliest single attack on marines since World War II — as a stick against Ronald Reagan, whose administrative negligence was much to blame.

You can't imagine. Because nothing about this Republican Party, whose leader now stands ready to repudiate nearly 70 years of security for our European allies under an "America First" banner, even remotely resembles the Grand Old Party of before. You could not find a City on a Hill, a single Point of Light, no Morning in America. Only doom, dystopia, dread, darkness - and a bumper-sticker solution to restoring greatness.

I agree. One can say that the couple of controversies brought more viewers to the convention. Cruz ended up destroying or at least seriously damaging himself.

No greater proof of alternative universes and reality could exist than to read the MSM reports on the RNC.

Of course they are all playing from the same sheet of music. Almost in unison they denounced the "dark, foreboding" character not only of Trump's speech, but of the entire convention.

Often using the very same words and always the very same themes.

Those who actually watched will know it's part of the Big Lie. But many of the 300mil who did not watch will read these headlines, sometimes the entire first paragraph...and the themes will be reinforced by every Dem Pol and every TV News room.

And this is why, at some date in the future, we must kill the press.

I’m enjoying the spectacle of all of these whiny liberal serial nihilists browning their shorts over Trump’s speech. And yes, I hate and despise them all with a nuclear, sun-hot intensity.

“If it lies, it dies”. From Matt Bracken’s excellent What I Saw at the Coup.

They had to go all the way back to Reagan because Cindy Sheehan is in the memory hole.

Even the PBS coverage was not THIS hateful!

Aaegh! What is seen cannot be unseen.

As for NY Times articles, can’t we just post (if we must) the title and be done with it. No link; no story. We already know what it says. What is read cannot be unread.

Hey NY Times, your statist liberalism is a failed ideology.

The only thing left for you is to make excuses and deflect for your own failures.

BTW, Donald Trump’s speech was great and patriotic. It’s everything you, the NY Slimes, are NOT.

Republicans chose to manipulate the grief-deranged mother of a terrorist victim,

Is the New York Times capable of commenting on anything based upon actual analysis, rather than by pontificating slanderous attributions to testimony for which they really have no rational answer? They are, as usual, beyond the merely contemptible.

It has to be in the headline to avoid sanctions from the Ministry of Propaganda.

I see. Then , you are correct.
