Nixon had served two terms in the House and one in the Senate, before two terms as VEEP, prior to running for the presidency. Unlike smarmy Teddy, President Nixon was BRILLIANT, had accomplished much, and yes, he really DID beat JFK, but didn't want to "harm the nation", so didn't fight his loss.

In every possible way, President Nixon was little Teddy's superior and Teddy is no Nixon; just as he is NO Reagan. All Cruz is, is a lousy POS.

Whatever faults Nixon had, he very successfully rehabilitated himself twice, once after the 1962 gubernatorial race loss and after he resigned from the Watergate scandal. By the middle 1980's, Nixon was revered for his foreign policy expertise, and by the time Nixon passed away, he had done much to rehabilitate his image.

I can see Cruz going this same route--lay low for the next 3-4 years, then start a political comeback.

Great points.

Yes, Nixon swallowed a lot tougher stuff than Ted has been asked to swallow.

Nixon was also a very astute political study. He knew what he needed to do to be a better candidate, and he worked on it.

Ted does just the opposite as if it is all owed to him.

I agree with your thoughts completely.
