He is going to get, and should get, a very nice settlement from the state for this. No excuse at all to fire the gun. They should fire that officer since he has no ability to handle pressure.
If I were the city attorney....I’d go ahead and try to offer $200k and hope that the guy accepted that and an apology. But I think the guy could get a million easily (but with lawyers involved and taking half of that).
I think a lot of the "bad shoots" have been due to police officers who are not good under pressure. These are the same types who kill family dogs because "the dog approached them in a threatening manner". Maybe the requirements for becoming an officer have been relaxed so much due to PC pressure that they are letting in too many people that aren't cop material (our military will look like this before too long).
