There is another BIG difference between 1976 and 2016:

Reagan came within a cat’s whisker of winning the nomination.

Cruz lost big, very big, to a man who got the largest number of Republican primary votes EVER.

Also, there was the pledge, non-existent for Reagan, in full force for Cruz.

Words matter.

Numbers matter.

Cruz sucks.

Sarah Palin is right: delete his career.

Much of what I’ve read said that Reagan lost it at the Convention when he selected a liberal VP and lost a few state delegations that had earlier supported him.

Trump got 1,725* delegates, winning 40 contests with 14,009,098 primary votes.

Cruz got 484 delegates, winning 11 contests with 7,810,477 primary votes.

Basically, Cruz got swept away.

==

* Trump got the 2nd highest total of delegates votes in recent history. Dole got the most in 1996 with 1,928 of 1,975 delegates.

Yep.

It wasn’t even CLOSE! Cruz was a distant second place. Distant.

Sadly, as he floats off to outer space, he seems intent on giving the Dems and Hillary as much campaign ammo as possible to use against the Republican nominee.

And Cruz thinks he has a future in 2020? Amazing arrogance.
