The words lifted from Michelle Obama's 2008 speech that were included in Melania Trump's speech at Monday night's Republican National Convention were an inside job intended to hurt GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, says Democratic operative James Carville.
"I think they were done in," Carville said Tuesday on the "The Mike Lupica Podcast."
Carville said it is only a theory, but he has run it by five or six people experienced in national politics, and "no one says this is nuts."

I wish the conservative press would stop perpetuating the story. They shouls be focusing on the excellent speeches from Trump’s kids, Newt, Christie, etc.
Many of us get wrapped up in Trump’s ‘build the wall’ stuff but we shouldn’t forget his liberal tendencies. Therefore, he is surrounded by liberals who can turn out to be suicide bombers (figuratively) in Reptillary’s army. Let’s hope he learns from this experience.

One thing that bothers Republicans is the naivete of the Trump campaign. Dirty tricks are only unethical and avoided in business. Dirty tricks are common in politics.
Dirty tricks are also common in international relations. Trump team seems to play by the more ethical rules of business.
Trump team knows in a vague way about dirty tricks. But they dont seem to be aware of the common details of dirty tricks.
I hope Trump gets up to speed before he is president.

I’ve heard Rush talk about Carville in positive terms. Rush says JC is intelligent and respected in political circles with good instincts.
I don’t know if all this is true or not, but to be fair, many on FR said the same thing long before Carville did. Maybe he’s not the only one with good instincts.
