Im ashamed that I voted for Ted Cruz in the Massachusetts Republican Primary.
I thought he was a man of integrity. Last night he proved -- beyond a shadow of a doubt -- that he isnt. He made a solemn pledge to support the Republican nominee. And he broke that crucial promise.
I thought he was a patriot. Last night, he proved he isnt. However bitter and angry he is at Donald Trump, he knows that Trump is the only person standing between Hillary Clinton (a liar, a fraud, a thief and a traitor) and the presidency. And yet after meticulously laying out the case against another 4 to 8 years of leftist tyranny -- he refused to endorse the one man who can put an end to our long national nightmare.
Cruz wasnt driven by principle, but by ego. He cant accept the fact that the party chose Trump over him.
Ted Cruz made the worst mistake of his political career. Millions of us will never forget or forgive his betrayal. He will never be his partys nominee for president. He will never hold the highest office in the land.
Ted Cruz is a very small man.
Likewise in TX
When Ted Cruz told the party any one but Trump, it was like a giant sucking sound filled the room.
I pictured Ross Perot dropping out of the race, a gift of the gods to Bill Clinton.
Cruz may have effectively just handed the presidency to Hillary Clinton.
In his mind, that’s being a patriot. No, that’s being a small man, indeed.
Cruz forget to include except Trump clause. Oops!
In a single night men are made and broken. Cruz was a broken man at the end of the evening.
A political party need team players and Cruz isn’t one.
Go figure.
Spread that post about the endorsement clause far and wide, Cruz bots are trying to do damage control right now. Time to put them down.
I heard Reince Priebus say those who signed the pledge were given Data from GOP to help their campaigns. If they hadn’t signed they would have not had that GOP support. FWIW
This was a small minded man’s childish effort to hijack the convention for himself.
The MSM story meme is set is was instantly “disaster” and this am it is all about cruz’s hissy fit.
That depends on what the meaning of the word “is” is.
I'm thinking this will backfire and actually help Trump achieve a mandate victory in November.
Sure, the Democrats are crowing about Republican "disunity" today but that implied disunity will make it much easier for Democrats, who are not exactly thrilled with another Clinton, to pull that Republican lever for Trump.
Think about it. Most Democrats would rather walk over hot coals than to vote for a Republican. Many of us feel the same way about voting Democrat. But because of the fact that much of the Republican establishment is throwing a hissy fit over Trump (not just Cruz but the Bushes, Romney, Kasich, etc.), many Democrats will actually feel like they are giving the GOP a "poke in the eye" by voting for Trump. They won't feel like traitors to their party.
It would be the same for us if the shoe was on the other foot. Let's say that Trump ran as a Democrat and beat Crooked Hillary for the nomination. And we nominated Jeb Bush. What would we do? Especially if we knew that voting for Trump would cause establishment Democrats to rend their clothing and kick and scream.
Yep, he now will be forever known as Judas and a kook politician.
I was very disappointed in Cruz last night. I didn’t expect an endorsement, but I thought he would at least have the cajones to support Trump, and at least halfway honor the pledge he signed.
I’m in Texas, voted for Trump in the primary, will in the general too, I’ve been on his side from day one, and was one of the ones hoping to see a Trump/Cruz ticket in the beginning. Boy was I mistaken...
A lot of people are saying this is the end if his career, I guess we’ll see, politicians have a way of coming back from the dead.
The biggest mistake Cruz made was in underestimating Donald Trump, which far too many have already done...bad idea...Trump just handed him more rope...
Yep, he made the pledge, and just broke it last night.
Pretty small of him. If he had such great moral fiber he should have never made the pledge.
Cruz tripped over his own ego. He’s toast.
Cruz is dead to me—I supported him—I liked him—but he proved a small man with a big ego filled with spite and hate.
I agree. His political career is over in Texas. I will never vote for him again for any position... including dogcatcher.
I’m going to continue with this meme, at least until I can find a way to make it better.
“Teddikins lied to Trump; he lied to the delegates; he lied to the party; he lied to the people; he lied to the country; he lied to the world; he lied to God.”
I watched Cruz’ speech last night and told Hubby, “He walked up there and committed political seppuku right there on the stage in front of the world.” I’m with Laura, it’s sad he chose this route.
I don’t regret my vote. I “voted my conscience.” I made what I felt was the best choice based on the information that I had at the time.
New information. New choice.
Go, Trump!
Please include me on the incredibly puny man list.
Done! ;)
