good morning and Nik and all my fellow passengers on the Trump Train

Nik, I so do appreciate you starting the 4 convention threads with some interest. Not just a Heading as so many major thread posters do. If you want to start up an important thread give it a little thought and put in something of substance. You have been doing this for us throughs the primary season with wonderful rally threads. MANY THANKS

I read most of the thread last night and finished it this AM. Misc thoughts.

I was one of the many who started supporting Ted and also with $$. When Trump entered I saw a refreshing change. I knew immediately he was my man. I had already however signed up for many state groups in the Cruz arena and never stopped getting email and other contacts.

Last night was interesting. We know how many of the cruz supporters wanted him as VP. I think that DJT wanted to put him right in front of Pence to show the contrast in the two. He did well with that strategy. IF he had denied Cruz an opportunity for a time slot there would have been an outcry of “shutting out Cruz”. He gave him the rope to do whatever.

I have always felt you do NOT reward bad behavior. Be it with your children, as a teacher, as an employer and surely not in politics. Cruz, Bush, Kasich, Romney should NOT be given the time of day at this point, yet alone any significant (or insignificant) nod for a federal position. There are many very good GOPers in the background.. they deserve the chance. We don’t need backstabbers in this administration. Cruz was so admired by me at one time.

I look at the love affair of many with him. I think of my own marriage. I was married 22 years. It should have been 6 months. I was in denial. Emphasized the good. Was blind to the horrific and what it was doing to me as a person. When I was suicidal and sought help, I discovered how I had been lying to myself. It took a LOT of over come this. (and I was a counselor myself)

Cruz has good points as did my ex. so do a lot of unsavory people. To say I am disappointed with him is an understatement on so many levels.

Am I impressed with Cruz in the Senate. No. I am NOT IMPRESSED with any of our GOP elected.(maybe Trey Gowdey an exception). They are all talk and have allowed Obama free reign and all they do is talk. We have Executive orders, bad deals, Czars, terrible programs. That obnoxious leader should be in prison right now not still putting forth his filth and destroying our government. Our elected GOPe has NOT done the job we the electorate expected. Have hey all been bought off, blackmailed, frightened in other ways to have NO SPINE OR BALLS?

I think the ultimate shock would be that Cruz be selected as Hill’s VP. Someone mentioned last night that Goldman sachs may have been very influential in his NON endorsement. I think that is a consideration and a very big reason why we so much appreciate The Donald and his lack of financial obligations

I am working more and weird hours. Miss the regular posting I was able to do this winter/spring when living at hotel. I will be working at hotel tonight 7-11. HOPING it will be quiet enough to go to breakfast room and watch on TV. I am pretty sure we just have networks.. any recommendations?

I had a few opportunities to floor passes to convention. Dang work. Last night I was off but no floor pass. Figures

Love/hugs from NE Ohio

I too, was an early supporter of Ted Cruz.

But then, a realization hit me: Donald Trump is the only candidate that clearly understood how it is to deal directly with "red tape" of government regulations, especially given his dealings with the City Council of New York City and the state government in Albany, NY. That's something other candidates don't understand in the Republican field, and Hillary Clinton CERTAINLY does not, especially given her admiration for Saul Alinsky.

In fact, I really want Trump to do something daring: frame his acceptance speech around the "Rules For Radicals" that Alinsky wrote in the book of the same name. After all, that's how Obama ran his Presidency, and Hillary Clinton--given her now-secret thesis written when she was a student at Wellesley College--will run her Presidency.

“I think that DJT wanted to put him right in front of Pence to show the contrast in the two.”

Interesting point. That may be exactly what happened. Smart.

Enjoyed your well thought out post this morning. You covered a lot of what most of us are thinking. Hopefully, tonight’s convention will be the catalyst to put much of the unnecessary disruptions behind us and we can move forward to work hard and elect President Trump.

Have a good day!
