CLEVELAND Hours before he was scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention, former presidential candidate Ted Cruz drew loud boos from his supporters at the mere mention of the GOP's nominee, Donald Trump.
Cruz, who has not endorsed Trump despite accepting a speaking slot for the convention's Wednesday night session, chuckled and let the boos continue during a thank-you event for his delegates and supporters in Cleveland.
While the crowd at the lakeside bar made their feelings clear about Trump, Cruz didn't offer any signal as to what he would say in his convention speech or whether he would endorse the billionaire businessman. Cruz former campaign manager Jeff Roe refused to answer repeated requests from reporters before the address to supporters on whether Cruz would make an endorsement.
The Texas senator elicited the crowd's negative reaction toward Trump when he noted that during the primaries, "In an amazing field of 17 talented, amazing candidates, we beat 15 of those candidates. We just didn't beat 16."
"Our party now has a nominee," he continued, as his delegates immediately cut him off with a string of boos.
In a stroke of luck, Trump's plane, carrying the nominee, flew across the sky just as Cruz mentioned Trump's name.
The boos continued as many in the crowd pointed to the plane emblazoned with the name of their party's nominee, and Cruz couldn't help but laugh.
"That was pretty well orchestrated. Jeff, did you email them to fly the plane right when I said that?" Cruz yelled to Roe. But a potential run was certainly on the minds of the attendees, who repeatedly broke in to chant "2020," the year of the next presidential election.
"I don't know what the future is going to hold, I don't know what will happen, but what I do know is my unshakable faith in the men and women here," he said.
"Every one of us has an obligation to follow our conscience, to speak the truth and truth is unchanging, to defend liberty. There's a lot of talk about unity I want to see unity and the way to see unity is to unite around shared principles, to unite around Liberty, and for us to empower the grassroots."
He’s a foreigner with no class.
A cuban-canadian
I just hope Trump becomes President and then he can deport Cruz along with all the Muslims and illegals1
Amen
I supported Ted Cruz throughout the primaries, but now support Donald Trump for the presidency. Ted put up a good fight, but Trump won far and square. Throwing a hissy fit because my first choice didn’t win would serve no useful purpose. The mainstream media will be focused like a laser on Cruz’s speech tonight, hoping their lead story tomorrow will be “division and disunity is running rampant in the Republican Party.” I sincerely hope Ted Cruz torpedoes their planned hit pieces and instead forcefully and eloquently endorses Donald Trump.
If Hillary gets in even for only four years she’s going to set us back a generation. Not only with her judges and other high level appointments, but by granting amnesty and throwing our borders open to all comers. Most of these new people will vote democrat. Cruz is an idiot if this is his long term plan. Hillary will guarantee there is no long term for liberty.
In four years Hillary could do a lot of damage, giving amnesty to illegals and opening the gates for terrorists, do Cruz and his supporters really want that? It’s insanity on their part.
oooohhhhh ... I LOVE how you think!!!!
Good points.
Ted Cruz is all about promoting himself, and not the good of the country.
I hope tonight’s appearance adds a few more nails into his political coffin.
This is interesting...

SPEAKERS
Every one of us who was part of this, when were old and gray and our grandkids ask, Where were you in the great one, the great battle?’”
Oh brother. The grandkids of these mooks are not even going to know who Ted Cruz was.
I voted for Cruz in the primary (Goldwater wasn’t on the ballot) but even I can read a sign. With apologies to Yogi Berra, but coincidences like that flyover don’t just happen.
RedState Gathering = 99.99% of the hacks and sellouts I have stopped listening to/reading.
Socialism (Hillary) and her Muslims(Islam) and illegals must be stopped .And there is only one man who can and will do that to save America and that is Trump. Also china is taking over the world ripping us off destroying our industries making everything in China.
4 years of Hillary and America is done
Yes, I agree, but it’s interesting to see who’s on that list of speakers, confirmed and unconfirmed.
Just the Amnesty for illegals would destroy America forever. I guess cruz and bots want that.
Just another reason I don’t like Cruz or his bots
