On second thought, why was Ted Cruz asked to speak at the convention at all?

Earlier today, Ed cracked into the curious story of how Ted Cruz is going to wind up addressing the Republican National Convention tonight, supposedly without endorsing the party’s nominee. ... Jim Geraghty jumped into the same debate in today’s edition of the Morning Jolt, ...

"Are we absolutely certain Trump’s judicial picks will be good ones? Can he really secure the border, or will Trump water down his wall promises? Notice Rick Perry, who also spoke at the convention but who did not endorse or mention Trump from the stage, recently said it’s going to be a “digital wall.”

Are we absolutely certain Trump’s judicial picks will be good ones?

No, Jim. We’re not. But I know with an absolutely certainty what sort of picks Hillary Clinton will make. And this isn’t your first rodeo. You know it just as well without being told.

Can he really secure the border?

Beats me, Jim. .. even if it’s a scaled back wall, a “virtual” wall, .., he’s at least going to try. On the other hand, ...Hillary Clinton and all of the Americans in Waiting in Mexico and elsewhere?

For that matter, you can ask any number of other questions along those lines to keep casting doubt on the party’s nominee. Will he be good enough on guns? We can’t be sure, but the man has a concealed carry permit while Hillary is a proud fan of the Australian system of gun confiscation. Pick your poison, Jim. Will Trump raise taxes? Hillary has promised to.

To increase interest and viewership, you moron. It's called suspense, a useful tool to get media coverage.

I listened to that whole clip. I never heard an endorsement of President Ford directly, only a commitment to the Republican platform and ideals.

If Cruz makes similar comments, would you consider that an endorsement of Trump?

Of course the use of that term for those folks is good behavior and respectful rhetoric.

Please edit history and spin theReagan AD then. The Cruzers already edited Wiki a few hours ago to line up this Red State story. Quite a coinindence, eh?

I'm a little confused. I'm not talking about the Reagan ad, which by the way was more "don't vote for the other guy" than a glowing endorsement. I'm talking about the impromptu speech given at the convention. Was that edited? What you've shown me is a post-speech recap that was edited saying Reagan endorsed Ford after his defeat. It doesn't specify when that endorsement occurred and I certainly don't hear it in the convention speech. It's a serious question as I listened to the link originally provided on this thread.

What was the exact verbage for Reagan's endorsement of President Ford? And if Ted Cruz made similar comments, would you also characterize it as an endorsement? I think it's a fair question.

I suspect it won't matter to you what Cruz says or does because in yours and many others eyes he's damned either way. It makes me wonder, then why such vitriol? Trump is our nominee. I pray to God he wins and I really think he will.

I just wish some of you would go back and look at the stuff you write on this forum. It seems so unnecessary. That's all.

Marco and Walker endorsed Trump tonight. Why couldn’t Ted?

I wish people would start trying to respect Cruz and his supporters and invite us to join the fight against Hillary with support for Trump.

I say this as someone who voted for Cruz in the primay. What was last night? Trump invited Cruz to do just what you are asking. How did Cruz respond to that?

Enough said.

I believe TED “earned” a speaking slot based on the number of votes he received. This was inevitable and Trump knew Judas would end his career on stage, thus Trump’s entrance at the end.

After last night,

I have no further argument. Apparently it is more than Politics with Cruz. That’s too bad.

For the record, I have never bashed Trump or his supporters. I have debated intentions and actions. And since Trump became the apparent nominee, I have always said I intend to vote for him. Any FReeper can call up my post history. I have nothing to be ashamed of or shy away from.

Now, can’t we all just get along. LOL
