Exclusive: Trump could seek new law to purge government of Obama appointeesTrump Could Seek New Law

If he wins the presidency, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would seek to purge the federal government of officials appointed by Democratic President Barack Obama and could ask Congress to pass legislation making it easier to fire public workers, Trump ally, Chris Christie, said on Tuesday.

Christie, who is governor of New Jersey and leads Trump's White House transition team, said the campaign was drawing up a list of federal government employees to fire if Trump defeats Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the Nov. 8 presidential election.

...

Trump's transition advisers fear that Obama may convert these appointees to civil servants, who have more job security than officials who have been politically appointed. This would allow officials to keep their jobs in a new, possibly Republican, administration, Christie said.

“It’s called burrowing," Christie said. "You take them from the political appointee side into the civil service side, in order to try to set up ... roadblocks for your successor, kind of like when all the Clinton people took all the Ws off the keyboard when George Bush was coming into the White House.”

Christie was referring to pranks committed during the presidential transition from Bill Clinton to George W. Bush in 2001. During that period, some White House staffers removed the W key on computer keyboards and left derogatory signs and stickers in offices, according to a report by the General Accounting Office, an investigative arm of Congress.

The DOJ is also infested. Let’s not forget about the DHS, the Department of States, and now, apparently, the FBI. Clean them all out. Look at the mess the Department of Education is.

If he can’t fire them, he should transfer them to a field office in Alaska, or West Texas, near the border.

Does he need a law? Just fire them. Clinton did it to prosecutors.

Except for federal judges, AFAIK, appointees are not guaranteed jobs forever.

Even if they are transferred to GS jobs they can be terminated within a year without reason.

Probably the first time the MSM deigned to report this particular act of clinton vandalism/petty crime. Maybe they'll get around to reporting the grand theft - that Presidential china and silverware the arkansas mafia stole belongs to the American People and was probably worth many thousands.

Obama pretty much did the same thing, didn’t he? He didn’t care much about the law though. I didn’t know there needed to be a law to fire appointees.

Might want to look at the Dubya and Bill Clinton appointees too.

Agreed. Then move on to judges.

Even if he can’t do it or is prevented by law, I would just put them in a rubber room like they do NYC teachers they can’t fire.

Trump can put in his own under-secretary and deal with him.

Sure it would mean paying two salaries for one position, but I could go for that just to keep the likes of the Lois Lerners and Koskinens out of power.

There are rather stringent rules against burrowing in -- or were, at the end of the Bush administration. Have these been quietly changed?

It is impossible to keep politics entirely out of career hiring, especially at senior levels of the Civil Service, but several friends in agencies have told me that Obama has politicized hiring to a very unusual degree. The Civil Rights Division at Justice is a notorious example and has received a good deal of media attention. In that case, the KSA's were rewritten to provide an explicit bias towards people with a "demonstrated commitment" to policy goals defined with a broad leftist tilt, with the result that every career attorney hired by the Obama crowd has come out of a movement left background. After seven years of this across the bureaucracy, it should be no surprise that supposedly non-political career people are on a hair trigger, for example, to force mentally disturbed boys into girls' showers. These people are now tenured and will be around for years. It will take new managers with an explicit and sustained commitment to depoliticizing the division to remedy this (through close supervision, judicious transfers, and reassignment to cases where leftist racialism and gender radicalism are not relevant).

That may be an extreme case, but I've heard complaints from other agencies as well. A lot of agencies are not especially political, given their missions, but even there white men are pretty much at the bottom of the search list unless of course they are gay or transgendered.

While they are there, have all their computers seized and preserved for evidence against them.

Forensically check all storage drives or memory banks for unlawful deletion of files or compromising content.
