Mystery of 14 Turkish navy ships 'still missing' after failed coup(tr)

More than a dozen Turkish navy ships are reportedly still at sea and remain unaccounted for following the botched military coup. The commander of the Turkish navy Admiral Veysel Kosele also remains missing, having been out of contact since Friday evening. It is unclear if he was part of the coup attempt or if he is being held against his will after local media reports said he was tricked into boarding one of the missing ships after being told there was a terrorist attack.

Probably their best bet is to defect to Egypt. Egypt will return the ships and let the crew stay. el-Sisi is probably the most reasonable Arab leader in the last 00 years.

In view of the historical animosity with Greece it’s probably not a good bet. Also, Greece might take a dim view of 14 warships. (Incidentally, how can a modern military lose 14 ships in a relatively small area? They know the cruising speed and should be able to radar search the probable area in an afternoon. I’d be heading west at flank speed.)
