I agree, it is blatant plagiarism. But my guess would not be that Melania is responsible or had any idea that it was such. It is presumably the contribution of a speechwriter. Or, such an assigned speechwriter would surely have gone over past nominees’ wives’ convention speeches and should have picked it up anyway.
But the question is why the speechwriter, if that’s who it was, did it? It is so blatant and there has been so much attempted Trump sabotage from GOPe consultant quarters that there is a good chance that this was planted to blow up just as it has.

May not be the case that Melania had anything to do with it, actually. Assuming at least a couple of other people worked on the speech, one of them easily could have written a draft paragraph with the questionable words. Few people in politics write many of their own words, and Melania is not even a politician or used to giving speeches.

He’s calling for the head of the ‘dead meat’ speechwriter and says he will be identifying that person and he promises to find out. Rachel Maddow saying it’s like taking the candidates wife and intentionally tripping her. Another saying Melania’s a victim not a perpetrator. Another saying everyone has been victimized by the speechwriter. And that’s just MSNBC. So you might just want to put that ‘her’ back in your pocket.
