Here’s the quote from Melania’s speech:

And from Michelle Obama in 2008:

Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them,” Obama said, according to a transcript. “And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to the next generation. It’s plagiarism. Yeah Obama and Biden did it too but this is politically devastating given the timing and the setting.
This isn’t good but no matter the media and Dems will do everything possible to cut Melania down. Especially because they have jealousy over a gorgeous woman who they must diminish as dumb. Never mind Hillary’s myriad crimes. Such a double standard. So sick of this.
The bad news is, that section was obviously plagiarized. And whoever the speechwriter(s) should be skinned!
On the other hand, of the two women, only one has clearly walked the walk, and not just talked the talk, of those words, and it ain’t Michelle Obama.
My take is that they want the leftist media to compare the speeches so that people can discern for themselves, that those values were never part of the Obama family. What family really holds those values!!!!
You can’t plagerize ideas. The words would have to be identical.

These are common ideas and ideals. This does not bother me much, if at all, mainly because Melania never said she was ashamed of the country a la Michelle.
Id say it is very similar.
That said, I’d say that it has probably been said similary about a hundred times before at numerous conventions.

Here’s my judgment: This was put in by a writer on purpose, along with words from the Rick Ashley song, “...never, ever let you down.” as a cruel joke.
Melania was rickrolled and the whole thing was coordinated by a mole in her staff of writers.
And Michelle meant all of that while she was patient dumping...
Just colossally stupid of her speechwriters... No it’s not word for word but it’s too damn close. Self inflicted injury from an already bad campaign...
