In a brief period of excitement (especially for completely unbiased John Harwood), Republican factions trying to stop Donald Trump's nomination noisily disrupted a vote on party convention rules. But, as The Hill reports, the Republican National Committee ignored the outcry from the angry delegates and adopted the convention's rules by a voice vote, rebuffing shouts by those looking to mount a last-ditch effort to sink Donald Trump.
As Bloomberg reports,
Delegates from Colorado were seen walking out of the convention hall, and former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli was spotted angrily throwing his convention credentials to the floor.
The disruption Monday on the first day of the convention was the first sign of fracturing within the party ahead of the presumptive Republican nominee's appearance in the hall Monday night to introduce his wife, Melania.
Former Senator Gordon Humphrey says he filed requisite signatures from nine delegations to force roll-call vote on Rules. Humphrey, a New Hampshire delegate, said he's not confident RNC staff has "courage" or "independence" to "stand up" to pressure from Trump organization to disallow or ignore petitions.
Humphrey, who opposes Trump's nomination, called the presumptive nominee's supporters "brown shirts" during an interview with MSNBC.
"They act like fascists," Humphrey, who represented New Hampshire for two terms in the U.S. Senate, said.
Senator Mike Lee, a Utah Republican, said he could not fathom the decision by the convention organizers in an interview with CNN.
If what they want is unity, treat us respectfully as delegates," Lee said. He called the incident "surreal."

In the end, the rules were adopted by voice vote shortly after 4 p.m., then after frantic protests, a second voice vote was taken as Trump opponents shouted repeatedly for a roll call vote.

If not, they need to review the videos and forcibly remove this corksuckers most riki tik. Bus them to philly where they belong.
I just saw the photo of Unruh. First time ever. I can picture her in her element, with a rag around her head, in beat up Birkenstocks, milking a goat.
Watched this live. Amazingly, Lee and the others said things that were absolutely not true. 11 states turned out to be 9 states (with 3 of those 9 withdrawn), etc. Will of the people turned out to be “we losers want our way, not the will of the people,” etc. Typical political nonsense. But, man, they just roll those words off the ends of their forked tongues. Is it any wonder that Trump is winning with straight talk?
Count Copulot and Mike Lee are demoncrat ass pirates. All those rumors of Cruz with hookers was a distraction.
“They act like fascists,” Humphrey, who represented New Hampshire for two terms in the U.S. Senate, said. “
You act like democrats.
The sweetest will be Hillary’s tears! She will never be President! Thank you Donald J. Trump!

Swine.
“Lee is giving interviews to every left-wing and Trump hating media outfit in existence.”
He’s acting just as a democrat would, if they had credentials.
Clinton’s must have pictures of him with a little boy or something.
He needs to go. Out of the party for you Mikey, go to Bush mansion, I hear they’re having a cocktail party with Mitt.
“Cuccinelli did some serious damage to his political career today...”

I would say after today, this scumbag does not have a “political career,” now or in the future.
Cuccinelli should be bagging groceries at the Piggly Wiggly, but this ass would probably screw that up, too.
Ted Cruz has led Mike Lee down a bad path.
Why did they pass this rule in the first place if it’s such a bad idea and “undemocratic”?
Mike Lee will probably be out in the parking lot collecting carts.
These men did themselves no favors today.
Mind your language, please; there are ladies present.
“Ted Cruz has led Mike Lee down a bad path.”
I guess. Cruz needs to give a resounding pro Trump speech to redeem himself.
The old guard needs to leave. Their time is over.

That face could stop a clock.
That may be. I thought that too, but am now not so sure that it might not be the other way around: that Mike Lee, Glenn Beck (and possibly even "The Bishop"*) very assiduously fed Ted's ego in order to use him for their own purposes. Heck, Ted and Mike may have made one of those little deals wherein each one is convinced he will get the better of the other.

They’ve got the lefty patois down. Good riddance.
