At the time there was talk on FR that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were to establish military bases, and air superiority over Iran. If you look at a map you can see why this might have been plausible.
That idea faded as the war dragged on and the traitorous left went after Bush.
Obama put the sword through any leverage we had over Iran with his demonstrated love affair with Islam, and thus Iran.
To be perfectly clear on that subject for anyone who has not read the redacted release on page 428 it is written:

Trump has done this nation a big favor if he does nothing else, hes outed the NWO globalist bushes, evil obama sycophant romney, countless supposed conservative pundits and groups and even a number of establishment religious persons, of which I will never again in my lifetime bend an ear toward or support any of them,
Its a clear choice between those who believe we’re a separate and distinct nation of laws with a constitutional republic guaranteeing unyielding freedoms to its citizens,
And those that think we’re held back by our outmoded constitution toward serving the needs as a globalist tool to empower and enrich the lawless elite over the masses of humanity.
