I just spent the last two evenings at “bike nights” and the usually jovial cops seemed tense and somewhat grim.
[not about the bikers, they know we’re cool with them...I think it was the whole “festive crowds” issue...it’s on their minds *and* the town we were in tonight has a “halal butcher” just outside the limits]
They relaxed a bit and appreciated the home-made Thin Blue Line patch I had just put on my vest.
Right now, *any* bit of appreciation and encouragement you can give them is well received.
They’re edgy and feeling like targets, I reckon.
So, if all of y’all get the chance, go tell a cop you’re on their side, pray for them, etc.
It means a lot to them.
I’ve done that twice this week. Saw one parked in a 7-11 and pulled ..went to his cruiser and told him we’re grateful and thanked him. He was really touched..meant a lot to him.
I have a cousin I am close to that is a police officer who was shot at several months ago. It wasn’t racially motivated it was just a drug addict running through the woods who had been in a police chase. Still, I worry about him everyday.
My son has a friend who was shot three times by a perp in Gulfport, MS while he was still in training. He still managed to help run the guy down and arrest him. I have another friend who is a former Baton Rouge police officer.
This stuff his home for us. I’m over these terrorists.
