Mike Pence on the Issues: Immigration, Foreign Policy, Guns, the Economy
nytimes.com ^ | KATIE SHEPHERD

Mike Pence, who has served as governor of Indiana since 2013, will be Donald J. Trump’s running mate on the Republican presidential ticket. Mr. Pence, a staunch social conservative, was elected in 2000 to the United States House of Representatives, where he served in the leadership of the party. Here is a look at his stand on important issues.

Immigration

Mr. Pence is opposed to granting amnesty for people who have come to the United States without authorization. He has supported increased border security measures, strict enforcement of laws prohibiting unauthorized residents from working in the United States and a government-run guest worker program that would place prospective immigrants with employers who cannot find American workers to fill open jobs. Earlier this year, he sought to bar the resettlement of Syrian refugees in his state.

Gay Rights

Mr. Pence, who has supported numerous legislative efforts to ban same-sex marriage in Indiana, was at the center of the national debate over so-called religious freedom laws that critics said could make it easier for businesses to refuse service to gay couples. As a congressman, Mr. Pence opposed federal funding that would support treatment for people suffering from H.I.V. and AIDS, unless the government simultaneously invested in programs to discourage people from engaging in same-sex relationships. He also resisted changes to hate-crime laws that that would have included acts against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and he opposed the end of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” a Clinton administration policy that allowed closeted L.G.B.T. people to serve in the military.

Amen to that.

FYI, the Tommygun as a firearm is actually not that great - it is a fairly unreliable design, and parts break way too often. That is the word I have gotten from a friend of mine who owns/operates a gun store and range, who’s father bought one (violin case and all) about a year before he died. It was a dream of his to own one, and it cost him about $15K (about 12 years ago). My friend says that it is too damned heavy for what it does, yet hard to control, jams a bunch and breaks fairly often. She has a full-auto MP-5 to compare it to - and I’ve fired that, and it is a dream.

All that said, I would almost kill to own a Tommy Gun. I’d love to put on the pinstripe suit and a hat, and strike that pose with a cigar that Churchill once did. It’d be fun at Halloween parties, too. :>)

Oh, yes: let's just throw all our principles on the trash heap, turn off our brains, and bow down before the god-hero NOMINEE.

Bullcrap.

Donald Trump and now Mike Pence are interviewing for a job working for We, the People. YES, it matters what Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence stand for, and YES, I want to know, and NO, they don't have to be identical point for point from top to bottom.

“I too believe this is our last chance to save this country for our children and grandchildren. If Hillary gets in the USA is gone.”

Yup.

>>I trust Trumps judgement to pick the best person who fits his needs.
************************************************************

I trust DJT’s judgement as well. Pence sounds like the very best choice (short of Sessions, who is too old to follow a DJT Administration, which makes Pence the BEST choice).

I hope Americans realize that this country has one last chance for restoration.

IMO, God has risen up the BEST person (DJT) who has the perfect combination of independently wealth, genius, love of country, tough resolve, and a tender heart to withstand the Evil Global Onslaught and (hopefully) survive.

My focus is ONLY on this:

DJT vs. HRC

or, in IMO:

God’s Chosen Warrior vs. Satan’s Chosen Warrior

France has been France for centuries and then in 7 years it’s transformed.

I haven’t been there in a long time...bet I wouldn’t recognize it...heck...I’m beginning to not recognize some of the suburbs of Portland, Oregon.

Maybe with Trump as his boss, he’ll have to stand strong and not wimp out.

Pence has 3 big things going for him:
1. He’s a Midwesterners and Trump didn’t connect very well with Midwesterners. 2. He’ll bring in the rest of the religious vote. 3. The left wouldn’t dare kill Trump because someone they hate would take over. This was always a danger of Trump picking a moderate or liberal running mate.

Obama has been at it since Day One in 2009.
The first thing he did was call in the Census director.
We all thought that was bizarre at the time.
But now we know.

He identified the areas of those “bitter clinger Christians” so that he could specifically invade them with his muslim brothers.

Eight years of Muslim invasion has successfully transformed our heretofore Christian nation.

Pray America Wakes.

The BEST pick of the lot!

No doubt DJT worked very hard to select the very best of the VP pool. We are so blessed to have him as our Warrior!

God’s Chosen Warrior vs. Satan’s Chosen Warrior

the choice is CLEAR.

Trump made a bad choice. He could have won without placating the establishment status quo globalist Free Traitor™ crowd.

Pence is for free trade and TPP so the ticket sends mixed signals on the seminal issue of out time. Bush the third. Bad bad bad.

It’ll matter when he runs for president. We don’t want a Bush undoing all the good.

Seems ta me that if you trust Trump to run th' country, you need to trust his ability to pick a VP.

It's been obvious from day one that Trump's message is jobs, immigration, defense, immigration, jobs, trade, and jobs.

Who has to and does not have to decorate a wedding cake has never been high on Trump's priority list.
