Multiple media sources have identified the driver of the truck that plowed into the crowd killed 84 people as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhel, 31. Reportedly Bouhel was a Nice resident of Tunisian origin, and may have dual citizenship.

Bouhel was a married father of three and a professional delivery driver. Local media reports he was known by French police for violence and “common law crimes,” but not to the intelligence services. His cellphone and bank card was found in the truck.

The Daily Mail reported that Bouhel had parked his truck on the street nearly nine hours earlier, and told police he was delivery ice cream, so they let him stay. Large trucks are usually banned from the roads during holidays and on Sundays, but deliveries are often exempted.

The latest word is that he was a “creepy loner” who was distraught because his wife left him. What else could he do in response but commit mass murder? Time to move on . . .

If it is correct that he had weapons and explosives (grenades) in the truck with him, then it seems he most likely must have had contact with other terrorists in France. You don’t get guns at the corner gun store in France, and certainly not explosives. He could have gotten them through “regular” criminal contacts, though. I suppose the truth will probably eventually come out.

So they had rules/regulations/laws in place that would have prevented this, but decided to waive them. Unbelievable.
Imagine the additional death and destruction if the truck had been filled with explosives.
