I am totally in favor of getting the government out of the schools. You are exactly right. They have made a mess of education. Not only have they totally politicized it, but they have failed to teach the basics.
Getting the government out of education is regarded as an “extreme” position by nearly 100% on the left and a surprisingly large number on the right. It is important to explain to these people that being against government education is not the same as being against education. This is a point that most fail to grasp.
