Think how valuable this land would be if global warming really came true. We need to deport our leftist true believers there.
Ample parking for over 5 million Syrians!
Go East, Young Man.
Most people live in European Russia west of the Urals.
If you’re hardier, you can live in Novosibirsk or Vladivostok.
Few Russians consider living in Siberia. Freezing winters there.
This is not really what I had in mind,...
There’s the understatement of the year! :)
Send the Syrians there with shelter, equipment and medication. Problems solved!
“one free hectare, about 2.5 acres, a person.”
Up the offer by 100 fold and I would be interested enough to marry a russian woman and give it a shot.
Ping for later.
I read this story published somewhere else, a month or two ago.
Ridiculous program. I wouldn’t go there for one those tiny plots; anyone who does is a fool. I wouldn’t go for a hundred times that.
I might go, for a thousand, if I got to pick my own plot, got immediate title to it instead of having to wait five years to see if they wanted to take it away from me after all my work, and a guarantee that the government regulators would leave me alone.
This program is so dumb that you would almost think that 0bama put it together.
Russia is having a hard time populating European Russia, let alone Siberia. They should take in a few million Syrian refugees and send them to the tundra.
As I understand it, the current inhabitants consist of miners, smugglers, and bandits, with a few whores and saloon-keepers.
I was tempted to say that after a few years of Hellary, Russia’s far east might not look so bad but with all the rules and regulations and too little land it’s wouldn’t be an option.
Be the first line of defense against the invading Chinese horde. What a deal!
Good for them.
Two and a half acres of swampy wasteland, and the local government can take it back in five years if your “development” of the land doesn’t meet up to their unspecified expectations. Not much of a deal.
2 1/2 acres of swampy terrain doesn’t offer many options to grow food or keep livestock-it is too cold for a rice paddy and even the toughest goats need dry ground...
The water code, you have to abide by it; town planning code, you have to abide by it; land code, you have to abide by it; border area rules, you have to abide by them; prescriptions of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, you have to abide by them; forest regulation, you have to abide by it, the district chief said.
