Republican incumbent senators have solid leads over Democratic challengers in the key swing states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, according to a Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll released today.
Noteworthy is Ohio where former Gov. Ted Strickland, who had an early lead but now trails Sen. Rob Portman by 7 percentage points, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds. The Swing State Poll focuses on Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania because since 1960 no candidate has won the presidential race without taking at least two of these three states.
The U.S. Senate matchups show: Florida - Sen. Marco Rubio over U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy 50 - 37 percent, and Rubio leading U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, another possible Democratic challenger 50 - 38 percent;
Ohio - Sen. Rob Portman over former Gov. Ted Strickland 47 - 40 percent;
Pennsylvania - Sen. Pat Toomey over Democrat Katie McGinty 49 - 39 percent.
"The numbers seem to be breaking the Republican way in the battle for control of the U.S. Senate, at least when it comes to the critical swing states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Yup.
If I’m going to vote for a liberal, I might as well vote for the real thing.
Who needs pretend Democrat Kirk when you can have a real one?
“...the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds.”
No poll is really “independent,” at least not any more.
John Fetterman, the VERY Left Wing Mayor of Braddock, PA, got 30% of the primary vote.
I remember back when Toomey first ran. Hugh Hewitt backed him and you would think that he handed out gold coins to everyone he came in contact with.
Now we know the real truth.
Toomey may not be as conservative as some would like but he's head and heels better than Casey, PA's Dem Senator.
Liberty score: Toomey 63%, Casey 6%.

Maybe they figure the blithering idiots have sufficient representation with one senator.
And he ran a very low $$ campaign. I’m still surprised that the PA dims didn’t help him more (Sanders supporter or not). He has great optics and is really an ok human being.
I predict Fetterman will be back and will get elected to higher (national) office. McGinty is another Hillary...its “her turn.”
I would call it the Trump effect. GO TRUMP GO
“I would call it the Trump effect. GO TRUMP GO”
Then of course you have the Hillary effect. In this case detrimental to dimoKKKRATS. So the two combined means good news for Republicans.
Gee, I thought Trump was going to be the death of other GOP candidates!
Sun rising in the East, setting in the West.
They never learn.
Bob Casey is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with politics in this state. An ambulatory vegetable with an IQ in the low double-digits who gets elected because enough old ladies think he’s actually his dead father. Con the majority of voters into believing you’re Pro Life and Pro Gun, but never fail to vote the opposite way. But keep winning re-election because Republicans are EEEEEEVIL and Dems are for DA WORKIN’ MAN!
You mean they control it now??? Who would have imagined???
Yup...I would vote for Toomey if I were in PA considering who the dem is.
Rubio has to win a primary on August 30 first. On the ballot:
Beruff is on the Trump train.
A double digit lead for Toomey is surprising. Good to see.

Too bad with Portman-—a GOPe stooge if there ever was one. He is heavily backed by Raj Soin, who has a vested interest in increasing the number of H1B visas from India.
