Guess which candidate runs a fraudulent University? (NOT Trump!)
7-13-16 10:44 PM | Dangus

The heart of the lawsuits against Trump University is that it isn't actually a university, based on the fact that it doesn't issue accredited degrees. Neither, of course does CGI University. Never heard of it? It's the Clinton Global Initiative University. Trump University teaches you how to be an entrepreneur; Clinton University teaches you how to "make a personal commitment for change."

Unlike Trump University, there are no curricula.

From its web site:

Since 2008, students have made more than 6,250 Commitments to Action, and nearly $3 million in funding has been awarded to these commitment-makers.

That's less than $500 per Commitment to Action. That's not great for Girl Scout Cookie sales, let alone for supposed adults.

Trump U has legendarily been accused of selling $35,000 seminars to single mothers. The germ of this is that sales people were to instruct people that if they wanted to attend badly enough, they could swing the investment. Yet the sales guide this supposedly came from, made public through lawsuits, actually cites what kind of people should be pursued as leads: $90K income; $200K *net* positive assets; Single-family home-owners; heads of households with at least 4 family members; college AND graduate-school educated. In other words, such a "sell," even for the $1,500 2nd course, was only to be made to people who had already been selected to be quite capable of affording it. (Note that $200K net positive assets means that any outstanding mortgages or car loans are deducted from net worth.)

Who attended Clinton U? Well, first, and this is important: it was free. Of course, so was Trump's introductory course, but Trump pushed select students to pay more for additional courses. But Clinton U was solely about pushing students to serve as minions for Clinton's political agenda. How much did attendance at a Clinton U event cost? What was the opportunity cost of becoming a minion? Of filing for those measly grants, which averaged only $500?

How much of those grants went to the 600 students who "applied" for status as a "CGI University Campus Representative" back at their real colleges? I put "applied" in scare quotes, because really, was there any competition? 10% of attendees become representatives, some at prestigious colleges, many at not so prestigious ones, and sometimes several at one college. I'm not picking on these schools either -- competitive schools are often wastes of money, but when your sole 2015 Great-Plains belt state university campus rep is at Wichita St, or your sole 2015 Carolinas campus rep isn't UNC or SC, but EAST Carolina, I'm guessing it's not because you turned down the UNC, Clemson, NC State and Duke applicants. I'm also not supposing that the American University at Dubai said, "No, three's the limit; You're highly qualified, but four is just too many."

Tonight, I heard some of the nightly Trump Hate-Fest—i.e., “The Steve Deace Show”—and he was playing audio about Trump University from CNN that said Trump is the most dishonest, wickedest, smelliest human being ever to exist.

IOW, just like every other night of “The Steve Deace Show.”

Aren’t many of the liberal universities selling worthless degrees? I know someone who went to a private liberal university to collect $90,000 in student loans to be an activities therapist. He got an AT job at a nursing home for $10 an hour running bingo and planning field trips. The loans make it so he would pocket more had he skipped college and instead was a cashier at a grocery store.

ASU Spent $500,000 to Host Clinton University Conference Other
Universities Hosted for Free
by Julia Porterfield June 25, 2015

Since 2008, the Clinton Global Initiative University, an entity of the Clinton Foundation, has hosted an annual conference at one lucky college or university in the United States. Several of the host schools in recent years have held the conference without spending a dime, but the host of CGI University’s 2014 conference, Arizona State University, wasn’t quite so lucky — the college shelled out a costly $500,000 in “marketing expenses” for the event.

According to The College Fix, the price tag for the University hosting the annual conference has varied in the past. In 2009, the University of Texas at Austin hosted CGI University, and paid production costs up front before the student government requested and received reimbursement from the organization for the full $28,851.15 UT had spent.

George Washington University, host of the 2012 conference, didn’t have to pay anything either. “The George Washington University was honored to host the Clinton Global Initiative University in 2012,” a university official told The College Fix.

“As part of our partnership, we provided space on our campus and many of our students participated and volunteered during the meeting. We did not pay an honorarium to host.”

Tulane University, which hosted the inaugural Clinton Global Initiative University back in 2008, also confirmed that it paid nothing for the privilege. Several of the other universities who hosted the event refused to tell The College Fix whether they spent any money, and this year’s host, the University of Miami, said that they were keeping the information private. Arizona State has received harsh criticism for its decision to spend a half-million dollars on the CGI conference when the

The annual CGI University conference typically brings together a wide array of celebrities, representatives, experts, and even President Clinton himself to discuss the organization’s five focus areas — education, climate change, human rights, poverty alleviation, and public health — with students.

Bill and Hillary Clinton both spoke at the 2014 conference, along with a variety of activists from around the world. Arizona State has received harsh criticism for its decision to spend a half-million dollars on the CGI conference when the school has doubled its tuition over the past decade.

The College Fix reached out to the university to ask if they knew that other universities hosted the conference without spending any money, and an ASU spokesman released this statement: ASU played host to the Clinton Global Initiative University in March 2014, which featured former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a program aimed at bringing together college students to find practical, innovative solutions to global challenges. The report you cited reflects the fact that the university co-invested in this educational and promotional opportunity, which was co-produced for our students, and for students from around the world. No public funds were used for this purpose.

The president of Arizona State University, Michael Crow, responded to recent backlash surrounding the school’s decision in early June. Crow attacked journalists reporting on the event, saying they “serve as a dog whistle for politically-driven sound bites.” “They [journalists] fail to acknowledge what the university is and how it operates to acquire what it needs to be successful.”

Methinks this is why the Clintons have backed off on pushing the “Trump University was a scam” meme.

How many of these 6,250 committed to help Hillary?

I was quite sincere when I said I didn’t mean to bash the less prestigious schools. Higher selectivity only means fewer drop-outs, not higher outcomes for those who complete a program.
