...Christians in Russia wont be allowed to email their friends an invitation to church or to evangelize in their own homes if Russias newest set of surveillance and anti-terrorism laws are enacted. The proposed laws, considered the countrys most restrictive measures in post-Soviet history, place broad limitations on missionary work, including preaching, teaching, and engaging in any activity designed to recruit people into a religious group. To share their faith, citizens must secure a government permit through a registered religious organization, and they cannot evangelize anywhere besides churches and other religious sites. The restrictions even apply to activity in private residences and online....

Her’s a better discussion of the law, which is controversial in Russia, and may well be modified:
I still stand by my original assertion that some “Western”-backed sects operating in the Orthodox world are subversive, and are backed by obama, Soros, and the EU, etc. The goal is to make Russia—and Serbia, Ukraine, etc. subservient to the New World Order, and to destroy the Orthodox Church!
And I am NO “Comrade”!!!! How many thousands of Orthodox delivers became martyrs and confessors under the Bolshevik yoke? How many hundreds of Holy Orthodox Temples were demolished by the Bolsheviks?
Perhaps the worst part of this Russian law is that it will give Imam obama and Crooked Hillary ideas for how to destroy Christianity in the U.S.—including the Holy Orthodox Church!!! But they may well have these ideas in their corrupt heads already, as well as alternative ways (i.e., the “gays”) to accomplish their evil goals!!!!
....”Orthodox delivers”...
That should be “Orthodox believers”!!!!
I haver a spell-checker that betrays me!!!!
Sounds like they are reviving the religious laws under Tsarist times. These will be used against anyone that the Russian Orthodox Church (which is a branch of the government) deems to be heretics or schismatics. That includes Catholics, Protestants, Old Believers, Dukhabors, etc. These laws won’t be used against moslems because Russia has had a long history of being warmly accommodating to moslems.
The Russian Orthodox Church has NOT been a branch of the government since 1917!!!!
Originally the Bolsheviks heavily persecuted the Church. Then—starting with WWII—Stalin encouraged the Church, in order to rally the people to fight the war. However, he put his agents (KGB) into the Church, and continued to persecute “noncompliant” believers (e.g., Solzhenitsyn).
The Church has been moving away form this subversion, especially after the fall of communism. But—as in Byzantium—it operates independently but in “symphony” with the state.
Those are the same ones who don't believe that Catholics are "real Christians" either. They forget that God looks upon the heart, not the form of worship.
The purpose of this law is the same as Communist era anti religious laws, speech codes on campuses, and other laws that restrict speech, debate, or criticism, religious or not.
They are intended to restrict and shape public discussions in ways that benefit elites, the establishment, or favored groups.
In Russia’s case the Putin government and his tame church (I admire Orthodoxy as faith, but not the Russian Church’s alliance with Putin). Government sanctioned religion is never a good idea.
This is little different than campus leaders restricting Christian groups and permitting Muslim groups special considerations, and creating “safe spaces” free of dissent. It is not the job of government to take sides for or against religions, ideologies, ethnic groups, etc....
She is going after the muzzies.
What the hell are your talking about? I think you need to come into the 21st Century. The Berlin wall came down 26 years ago. The Russian Orthodox Church had nothing to do with Communism. Communist Russia is dead.
Well, good! Door knockers like the JWs need to take a clue. That includes the standing JWs at street corners holding the AWAKE pamphlet.

Well, the Mormon church has announced that they will obey the new Russian law. (A few less “door knockers” in Russia).
>>What the hell are your talking about?
You mean other than self-evident Human Nature and 3000+ years of history?
Ne-Bu-Chad-Ne-Zar!
Same ol’ Ba’alshyte, different municipal toilet.
>>God looks upon the heart, not the form of worship.
Yep.
>>Sounds like they are reviving the religious laws under Tsarist times.
Yep, that’s what it sounds like to me too.
Ne-bu-chad-ne-zar!
>>How long until this happens here?
Already happening in some churches. They just don’t have state powers... yet.
Ne-bu-chad-ne-zar!
Good luck with that.
Whatever, dude. I don’t speak computer/ blogger gibberish or whatever that is. Don’t waste any more of your or my time posting that stuff.
>>Whatever, dude.
There is no god but the Tzar!
Not quite the same sentiment constituted by America’s founders in the 1st amendment of this Republic, is it - “dude”.
“I HAVE SWORN UPON THE ALTAR OF GOD ETERNAL HOSTILITY TO EVERY FORM OF TYRANNY OVER THE MIND OF MAN”
—The Virginia Act For Establishing Religious Freedom
—Thomas Jefferson, 1786

What was that aimed squarely (and on the level) at?
The entire notion of freedom of religion, articulated in the Virginia Act for Establishing Religious FREEDOM, is subversive to the nature of state-established theocratic tyranny.
And THANK GOD for that!
