Most people don’t realize that, by virtue of being an ELECTED LEO, the county Sheriff is THE chief Law Enforcement Officer in the county. All cities reside in a county (or parish). Who’s in charge? Who will the governor call? Depends on the Sheriff.
Seems like there are a few who take their election seriously: Arpiao and Clarke come to mind.
