They can ask you what they effing well want. You give them a copy of the license and they have not further grounds unless you are acting like an asshole.

Its your 1st and 2nd Amd rights to carry and not say a word to the cops even when asked.
As soon as you give an evasive answer to a legitimate question you have raised suspicion.
“None that you need to be concerned about” only increases the officers scope of what he needs to be concerned about and would get your car searched in Kansas, where as being respectful nice would see you down the road with probly only a warning.
