It's not our grandparent's Dem party. Clueless Jews still think of registering as a Dem as sacrosanct as Bar Mitzvahs and circumcisions. My parents were dems initially but switched parties around the same time Pres Reagan did, and for the same reasons, they didn't leave the party, the party left them.

Their group voted in the higest percentage for the republican in the NY mayoral race.

That might have to do with a large Hassidic population. I dont know.

A large majority of them are liberals. Just like about half of nominal Christians in this country are liberal and also vote Democratic.

The only two public figures I've seen trash Wiesel have been Jews (Blumenthal and Riek). Their main beef, it appears, is with Wiesel's support for Israel's right to self defense, and with Bibi's hard-line stance on that matter in particular.

Progressives' hatred of Israel is quite intense, and Jewish progs seem less reticent than most about expressing it. The fact that most Christians support Israel just makes the loony left hate the Jewish state even more.

As far as why so many Jews vote Democrat....well....they agree with most of the Rat platform, it's as simple as that. Abortion-on-demand, global warming, the LGBTQ agenda, gun-banning, open borders, and so-called "social justice" for the "victims of white racist imperialists" are their main concerns. The anti-Semitism of a large chunk of the Dem party is ignored.

This I believe is the result of people unable to deal with the irrational and inappropriate guilt that they feel because the group they belong to is more successful than other groups. This offends their delusional sense of “fairness” that stems from the fantasy that all “races” should be the same.

I'm on Facebook with a liberal Brit who writes about this subject morning, noon and night. He is a staunch member of the Labour Party and would be a Dem, if American. Why? He's convinced that anti-muslim immigration, if enacted, would eventually lead to Jews being expelled from Great Britain! He believes if Trump were president, he'd expel Jews from America! But Corbyn? He recognizes he's a problem but not as bad as Nigel Farage. And if he works within the Labour party, he thinks he can change it.

I cannot argue with him because he immediately took away my posting privileges when I disagreed with him! Many liberal Jews are damaged people, I think.
