And the decedent was not a robbery suspect because if the cops really believed that, they would have initiated a felony traffic stop for their own safety. A felony stop would be routine for a traffic stop involving an, "Armed robbery suspect".

I agree. This incident/situation needs to be investigated based on the evidence and the facts.
“That is murder” - maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. No, you can’t murder people. However, a police officer does have the absolute right to defend his life and the lives of other innocents - sometimes that requires the use of deadly force.
In this case, it is useful to learn that in the past, this individual resisted arrest while possessing a weapon. While the police did not know his history, they did know that they were responding to a call of a man who threatened someone with a gun. Raises the threat level for a police officer.
We will have to see what comes to light as the investigation is concluded. However,
