Head fake alert!!!!!!!!!
Too bad Norman Schwartzkopf (or Patton) isn’t still alive.
He could pick Daffy Duck and I’d still vote for him. But Flynn sounds like a very interesting choice especially given the problems we face.
I have been a declared independent for the past four years (giving up on the Republicans after the Romney fiasco). I vote for the best candidate. I actually think a lot like Trump. What bothers him, and what gets his passion going are the very same issues I'm passionate about.
I'm NOT passionate about the Republican party. Frankly, I'm mostly disappointed and frustrated by the Republican party. Twice they have been given clear mandates, most recently in 2014, and they have fumbled beyond belief. They have actually given Obama EVERYTHING he's pushed in the past seven and a half years. So what's to get excited about?
So, whoever Trump selects (there will be crisiticism galore no matter who he chooses), is okay with me, so long as it is a person who supports the same goals and ideals, and will be willing to take direction from Trump. What leter is after his or her name is of no consequence to me.
My closing argument is: Zell Miller (Google his name if you've forgotten).
The source of this article is WaPo fish wrap.
As to him not being a Republican, I've come to realize that many of the people I thought were Republicans were merely Democrats with an R by their name (Romney, Bush, Ryan).
The parties are realigning. From left vs right to globalists vs nationalist.
Is Flynn a nationalist? I'd rather have a former Democrat nationalist than a Republican in good standing globalist.
While I’m not enthusiastic about a Democrat being chosen, it’s probably still a better choice than Corker or Newt. Flynn would certainly provide badly needed national security credibility. Interesting times....
as soon as he announces it everyone will say, “What was he thinking” like always
I don’t know this guy but I like the thought of NOT hiring an insider. I hate the cesspool of DC.
Would be a major coup. When Trump wins the presidency, having and in and able to assert influence of the defense intelligence agency, he can go after and purge the CIA/NSA/FBI et al of anti-american interests.
Trump has vision. He is undoubtedly a marketing genius.
I like the way he takes his time to ponder over possibilities, takes time to see a vision that will carry his brand forward.
Bringing an outsider military General with him to Washington DC is brilliant.
I hope he follows through with it.
But I hope General Flynn is in the mode of MacArthur and Patton, not any of the desk warriors that learn weasel tongue like any other DC politician.
I don’t know much about this individual, but I like the fact that Trump went down to D.C. a few days ago & caught on right away that the GOP was/is still full of crap & his instincts kicked in about not putting one of those people on his ticket & might just go elsewhere.
I think the candidate fulfills one aspect on Trump’s wish list of a candidate with some military experience. But how does naming a registered Democrat retired general with no traditional political experience mesh with Trump’s prior statements that he would like to have someone with traditional political experience who knows the Congressional and DC ropes to offset his light experience in this area? I think the political experience aspect is more important. After all he can name a retired general as his Sec of Defense
and get as much input as if he were his VP.
Strictly speaking he’s also considering Chris Christie and Joanie Ernst. But they aren’t expected to make the cut either.
Ok but what happened to that “has to be able to help me pass my agenda in congress” stuff? I’m sure the general is great and this would send a certain message, but Trump should be reassuring independents. fence-sitter, Berniebots. This feels like a Stockdale move. (Nothing against Stockdale, he just didn’t position Perot as a serious candidate)
Parents were
Charles Francis Flynn, born 22 Dec 1924 in RI.
Helen Frances Andrews, born 17 May 1925 in Newport, RI
Both parents were US Citizens at the time of his birth ( Jus Sanguinis)
Lt. General Michael T Flynn is a Natural Born Citizen.
He’s tough on terror, but I want to know about Flynn’s conservative credentials. If something happens to Trump after Jan. 20, it’s President Flynn. What kind of Supreme Court justices would he pick? Is he for limited government and states’ rights?
