Sen. Ted Cruz, Donald Trump's former chief rival for the GOP nomination, will speak at the Republican National Convention later this month, the Texas senator told reporters after the two met Thursday in Washington.
Cruz told reporters Thursday that the real estate mogul offered his former primary rival a speaking slot during the meeting and Cruz accepted. He added that he and Trump did not discuss an endorsement.

So please boycott it, now.
yes, he did hold out his hand to the side and made Jimmuh cross the stage to come shake it (briefly)
there were even editorial cartoons on how stupid it looked.
What are you thinking? May is the time to summit. July is monsoon season up there.
++++
Tell me about it. I mean the weather up here is really bad. I’m starting to wonder if I’m going to make it down. And I’ll tell you, carrying 4 dead Democrats down the mountain on my back isn’t making it any easier.
Next year I’m going to take your advise and scoot up that big hill in May.
I see that you are having another episode.
Sad.
“Dont know about the 8 state speaking
rule but there was a rule in the 2012 Convention that a candidate had to win 8 states to be placed in Nomination. Thus if placed in nomination I guess one would get a
speaking slot.”
Yes, that’s the rule I was referring to — if you have the right to enter your name for nomination, you have the right to give a speech to the delegates.
I do hope this development helps put an end to the animosity between the two camps, it doesn’t do us any good to be divided at this point.
I am a Trump supporter and you are right!
Jeff MacNelly was savage through the whole 1980 campaign. I may still have a box with his cartoons.
My favorite was one with Carter in the cab of a big steam locomotive, with the wheels off, and the whole train wrecked. It’s labeled, “The Economy.”
Tiny, tiny shrimp Carter is saying: “By the way, did you know Reagan is a racist?”
Is it also childish to say that Cruz is a Bush sock-puppet, and possibly an illegal alien, and definitely not a Natural Born Citizen?
Is it childish to say that that Cruz is a liar. I heard him say that Trump “calls for violence at all his rallies.” I heard him say that “Donald supports socialized, single-payer healthcare for every American.” I heard him say that “Donald supports Obamacare.”
Not just childish but stupid, and willfully ignorant.
Hence the reason Cruz would bring 0 votes. You're going to vote for Trump (OK, against Hillary) anyway. Making you feel better about it doesn't add any votes to Trump's tally.
Trump's job RIGHT NOW isn't to ease your voting pain, it's to win.
IMHO, Trump should not follow the conventional wisdom, which would be to either move to the center (as Romney & both Bush's did) or add a VP to unite the party (as Reagan did).
What he should do is double down on what got him this far: running as the anti-establishment candidate.
That means thinking outside the box & picking someone as unconventional (and hated by the establishment) as himself.
And no, Ted Cruz does not fit that description. After the second half of the primary, when Cruz brought on Bush's people and was endorsed by virtually every GOP establishment type (even Lindsey Graham) Ted can no longer claim to be and anti-establishment candidate.
“And Cruz is very fragile in his position in Texas elections. From what Ive read, hes created a huge animosity in his base to the point where alternates are being wooed.”
He is a snake sorely in need of a boot heel. I look forward to contributing to his opponents for the duration. The foreign, blasphemous huckster needs an appointment with political oblivion.
Such a shifty paranoid cruznadian.
Each and every single vote on the FR Caucus is public for all the universe to see. You can count the votes yourself and compare them to the summaries.
Poor cruznadian: you weren’t able to manipulate the FR caucus votes in the same way tedduh manipulated the caucus and delegate votes during the primary season.
So Cruz never said all those things that I and millions of other people heard him say? That “Donald supports Obamacare”? That “Donald calls for violence at all his rallies”? That “Donald supports socialized, single-payer healthcare for every American”?
“This seems like a YUGE mistake, BUT, I will yield to DJTs superior intellect.”
No. Your gut instinct is right. This is a huge mistake.
Like Reagan letting Bush stand behind him.
I hope it falls through.
Exactly. To hell with Count Copulot. If this greasy pathetic lowlife bedwetting lying snake fondler is given a slot to speak at the convention, I hoped he is heckled and booed off the stage.
“Great. All the Cruz cultists are back, convinced he will be VP. He wont. Nor will he be a Judge. Wake up.”
They truly are cultists. One would think that a personality cult would require a personality, but apparently not.
“What will you guys think if Trump picks Cruz for VP?”
That Hillary has it in the bag.
“Mark Levins head is going to explode.”
I think it already has. The sounds from his microphone at this point are just bits of soft tissue raining down.
Apparently you missed the news about the Cruz Voting Record in the Senate. One would think that we would all be supporting a guy who votes the way we want.
Just for the record here is the Senate Voting Scorecard that Heritage puts out. Pretty reliable source I believe. You need to look way over on the right side to see a picture of Ted Cruz with his scorecard of 100%. That puts him right at the top tied with Mike Lee. The two best men we have in Congress. You might note that Jeff Sessions, another pretty good Senator, failed to break into the top 5. He's down in the low 80's I believe. Good enough to become a Trump VP candidate but not as good as Cruz and Lee.
