'YOU'RE FINISHED JUNCKER' Livid Angela Merkel set to 'deal with' gloating Brussels chief

The fuming German chancellor is planning to wield the axe on the bungling bureaucrat, who is facing calls from across the continent to resign.

Senior ministers in Berlin have been dismayed by Mr Juncker's confrontational approach to Britain over the last fortnight and now believe he is "part of the problem".

Mrs Merkel is said to be particularly perturbed by the unpopular Commission president using the Brexit result to "gloat" and push for further EU integration.

Crowing interviews he has given trying to marginalise and provoke Britain have proved the final straw, and she has now decided to sack him within the next year.

Whilst the German supremo does not alone have the power to oust Mr Juncker from his position, losing her confidence would be a hammer blow and it is unlikely other states will seek to keep him in place.

In particular there is fury and bewilderment in Berlin at his decision to welcome Nicola Sturgeon to Brussels and then talk openly on German television encouraging Scottish and Northern Irish independence.

And Mrs Merkel, who is under intense pressure from industry chiefs to secure a free trade deal with Britain, has come to the conclusion that his poisonous presence could torpedo upcoming exit talks.

BMW, Audi, and Mercedes are working the phones on this one...and you can be sure Merkel gets their drift.

They want open access to UK markets and Junker is creating problems.

Junker seems to have put this mess into overdrive. If he weren’t such an asshat I wonder if the Greek crisis, the Migrant crisis, and Brexit would have happened?

They don’t, it’s all show because I think the Parliament would have to do a vote of no confidence in the Commission at which point the whole bunch would have to step down, and that’s never happened.

And it's not just Junker. It's all the EU bureaucrats.

The lack of accountability makes the power they have over the EU countries feel almost unlimited (and it is).

That is the source of their arrogance.

How does the kraut get to fire an EU government figure?

1) They're called euros, but for all practical purposes they're deutsche marks. Money talks.

2) Merkel is what in old Japanese politics was called the shikken: the person who, though technically under the authority of the shogun, actually wields the power of the shogun. The trick for a shikken was to effectively perpetuate the fiction of being an underling, and Merkel's actions in this article shows she has failed, at least in this instance, to do so.

More "the scare mongering didn't work" reality check for Merkel, under pressure from German business to cut a deal with a soon to be more flexible and better connected with the rest of the world Britain.

The only people in Europe who wholeheartedly believe in an "ever closer union" managed Politburo style from Brussels reside mostly in, well, Brussels. As it has become more arrogant and its decisions and powers more arbitrary the EU has become a very unpopular institution across the continent. Fear of the consequences of a disunited Europe, and greed of the suckling "piigs", has kept this disenchantment on a slow simmer.

But Merkel helped bring it to a boil with her own heavy handedness, and her rank stupidity in allowing a million militant Muslims through the gate. She must now be seeing the writing on the wall and is scrambling to repair her own image and political future. Setting up Junker as the evil fall guy and isolating him in this drama is a start, but it won't do much to help her with Germans pissed off about the immigration catastrophe. There's a heavy political bill still coming due on that one.

Hmmmm, sounds like we (the USA) should have Brussels be the home of the UN?
