Our organizations and many others have called on Congress to provide the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with funding for research into the causes and prevention of gun violence. In addition, we published a joint editorial on gun violence in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
These unspeakable acts highlight gun violence as a grim and increasing public health epidemic that kills approximately 91 Americans every day. THIS MUST STOP.

My mom died in 2011 after she was mis-medicated by a physician. Also, her sister, my aunt, died on the operating table in 2004 when during the procedure to replace her heart pacemaker, the doctor sliced open her aorta.

I wonder how many of these psychiatrists/doctors “conceal carry” or have a permit for it.
And why? Maybe because they deal with psychos, nutcases, wackjobs, delusional maniacs, and similarly inclined people who walk the streets of our cities, schools, universities, and in our workplaces.
Let those of these critics give up their right to own a weapon or to carry one. I can here the rush of their bodies to do this. Wait, that was just a cricket farting.

Adding to my earlier comments, I wonder if these doctors have ever heard of Islamic Jihad, anti-Semitism, anti-Christianity, the Islamic Caliphate, ISIS, Al Qaeda or Mohammed’s call to kill people?

They are interested in gun safety. So am I. I wrote a column published in a major northern Virginia paper about that very subject, namely gunlocks but I never got any letters to the editor from the liberals in support of it, and this was in the 1980’s.
Call the NRA, Gun Owners of America and other firearms groups if you want to learn bout the many gun safety programs that have existed for decades.

And if they are really concerned about gun crimes and control, let them demand of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Mayor Comrade DeBlasio and the liberal mayors of Minneapolis, San Francisco (the home of the killing of Kate Steinlee by an illegal with a gun), LA, run by a fool, Philadelphia run by two successor fools, Baltimore run by a hack politician, DC run by a circus of clowns and crooks, etc., that they go after the criminal, not the law abiding citizen who is the victim of illegally armed criminals.
Now that’s an original thought for them to chew on, isn’t it?
Give me 100 veteran street police officers (patrol and investigative), put them in a room with subs and sodas, and they will come up with more rational, logical, sane, and pragmatic solutions to gun violence than all the doctors who signed this article/ad/notice combined.

A doctor’s job is not to prevent gun violence. It is to keep the victim from dying. Affordably.
The medical profession should start by improving their own safety record. With the exception perhaps of our front line combat troops, statistically speaking it is far more likely that you will be killed by a mistake made by a doctor than by a firearm. And that doesn't count the lives cut short intentionally by a small subset of the medical profession.
BINGO and they police their own, it takes several deaths to get one’s license yanked, and the medical errors usually can’t be corrected. There is seldom any real proof.
Like when the Physio popped the L5/S1 collapsed it, I get to live in pain the rest of my life and it is not repairable.
DIL went in for mastectomy, doc wanted radical, she wanted skin sparing, he used staples, nicked a vein, and they were going to send her home as soon as all the anesthesia wore off. When she turned white as a sheet we knew she was bleeding internally, no transfusion as they didn’t have her blood type on hand. Nor direct donor from her brother with same blood type. Second surgery to close the nicked vein, sutures used. Wanted to send her home till I had a fit, they kept her over night, sent her home next day, I was taking her back to ER the day after, as she was still bleeding out, doc did a piss poor job of repairing the vein he’d nicked. He was T’d off because she did not want a radical mastectomy. Just told her to use Iron Pills with no instructions on them.
And medical care has gotten WORSE under DUMBOCARE.

The ultimate irony to me is that if only those who support Obama and Democrats in general turned in their guns, gun violence would drop 90% overnight.
Had to make a ER run a few months back, the new reconstruction on the hospital ER included a full walk threw metal detector and a guard to go through your belongings. Guess they fear some mistreated Irate patient might want to bring a gun along to stop the medical horrors going on behind those walls.
Sure wasn’t to keep gun toting mussies out.
