Getting through the line at the TSA can be a long and uncomfortable process. For one Chattanooga teen and her mother, the process turned into a scary nightmare.
19-year-old Hannah Cohen was returning home from St. Jude's Hospital with her mother for treatment of her brain tumor (a trip they had made for 17 years), when Hannah somehow set off the metal detector at the security checkpoint.
TSA wanted to do a further scan on Hannah, but she was reluctant. Hannah's mother, Shirley Cohen, tried to inform the agents that her daughter was disabled. She is partially deaf and blind in one eye, paralyzed, and becomes easily confused. They wanted to do further scanning, she was reluctant, she didn't understand what they were about to do," she said.
Despite her concerns, Shirley was kept away from her daughter by police. Hannah, obviously afraid, tried to get away from the grips of the TSA. She's trying to get away from them but in the next instant, one of them had her down on the ground and hit her head on the floor. There was blood everywhere, said Shirley.
The teen was arrested, booked, and sent to jail. Here we were with nowhere to go, not even a toothbrush, our bags had gone to Chattanooga, said the distraught mother.

It is discouraging to read the responses to your obviously sarcastic post.
So......you must’ve gone to visit the Statue of Liberty, too?
Seriously horrendous.
Primarily, maybe....but all FAT.
lol....at first I looked at your post and thought, huh?
Then chuckled inside.
Obey, or be bloodied.
This isn’t even “soft” tyranny.
This is HARD Tyranny.
How much more will the masses tolerate, I wonder.
Which is why EVERYONE ought to wear those black garbage bags while going through airports.
There is so much power in the masses as a whole, but alas, the masses tolerate a great deal of abuse before ever deciding to respond in like kind.
Good advice. But she needs to hire one helluva shark lawyer. Take no prisoners.
In this case,
Heh!
The S of L security is unbelievably absurd. Gestapo-like. Ironic.
Yeah, but they all feel so tough now.......
If I were you I would flag your post and ask the admins to delete it or FRiends will keep coming after you.
They were white. Would not be done to anyone else with obvious, and also verbalized by a parent, disability problems.
“Pat-downs are carried out by agents of the same gender”
I wonder how they pat down a “zie”.
“...Theyre only suing for $100,000.
Sounds very reasonable to me. Id sue for that, plus legal costs...”
################ I’d sue for 100 times that amount with the physical condition of this young girl!!!!!
In this case Jewish is not relevant except they should know a good plaintiff lawyer ....maybe even have one in the family
I hope to God they do
This is horrible ...just pitiful
My thoughts exactly for many years.
I’ll gladly take the one in a gazillion chance of being injured in a terrorist attack or being blown up on a plane than the almost GUARANTEED harassment I get from “authorities”.
A police state is not a free state. The US has not been free for quite awhile now.
The whole reason it was created in the first place was to absolve airlines of liability for terrorist attacks.
#135 Wardaddy. I mentioned the fact that the girl was Jewish for several reasons, major and minor. Minor was to add to the list of discrimination by the TSA if they had seen her boarding pass.
We are terribly short of Jewish suicide bombers right now, esp. women and young girls. They are too busy being students, mothers, teachers and rabbis.
After all, a suicide bomber has a short professional career and we Jews like to look to the long run in a profession.
It will be interesting to find out if the TSA/airlines were notified that the young girl was a disabled medical patient, and if so, who screwed up during the check-thru.
I carry a state-issued “Disabled” card with me (Defibrilator and Pacemaker in my chest), plus newly discovered spinal stenosis disabling pain (until surgery). Sometimes I have to use a cane because I cannot walk up inclines more than a few dozen feet.
I’m lucky because I also can carry a Govt “give all assistance” letter if I’m on government business but the average traveler is on their own.
TSA was established using the wrong premises so they have hurt more innocent people than they have caught terrorists.
That is why I never applied to work for them. I told my wife that it would take two years before they even got their act together. I was wrong. They never got their act together and never will if they keep the same corrupted thinking and management.
DHS is even worse. Jeh Johnson was the wrong man, period. He was a backbencher in terms of security operations if even that. Forget his JAG role as signing off on drone strikes. My son could do the same except that he had on the ground combat experience in Iraq. He know what he had to do to the enemy. Lawyers often have no idea what the real world is like.
Miss Cohen is just the latest victim of a bureaucracy that never morphed into a rationally planned, professional led, and pragmatically operated security agency.
In other words, the Keystone Cops were more effective than the TSA is. So sad. So dangerous.
I’m a man and all, but I’m tearing up every time I see this kid’s face. Poor little baby. Somebody needs to be prosecuted.
