Highly paid tech workers are often blamed for the citys housing crisis. Now, three supervisors want to levy a tax on technology companies in an effort to make them pay for the citys two biggest woes: the high cost of housing and homelessness.

Interesting in that San Francisco is a "sanctuary city" that the thousands of illegal immigrants living there are not considered a cause of the housing crisis. How about if the tax the countries of origin of the illegals?
Any sentient tech company has, or will, leave SF.
Note to tech companies. Several other states are ready for your move when you are.
SF wants less wealth, so they are going to tax those who bring it.
Meanwhile, they throw open their doors to illegals, who bring poverty.
Tax Nutzi Pelosi, what has SHE done lately to help out San Francisco besides run her pie hole?
The government’s “solutions” are always more taxes. They’d tax you 100 % if they thought the masses wouldn’t rise up and start killing them and burning ther houses to the ground.

I have dealt with lots of Ca folks over the years. For the most part they love California more than life itself. They can’t envision moving. So, no matter how bad the financial aspects, the social aspect of the California lifestyle seems to overrule reason. Having said that, a director of a Ca based Fortune 500 company with several plants in the LA area told me they were slowly letting the plants run their life cycle and die and moving all new efforts to right to work states. They were stunned when virtually all the Ca employees accepted the move package. So, there you have it. Both ends of the social spectrum.
Strange, I thought city and county governments WANTED HIGH REAL ESTATE PRICES....................
Woo hoo! More taxes!!!
took words out of my mouth!
It’s worth noting that, however much money they are projecting from this tax, the actual amount of tax revenue received will be a good bit less than they are predicting.
And the predictable reason for this is, that the existence of this tax will change people’s behavior.
Liberals who mount us with tax after tax after tax, never take into account that our behavior changes when our taxes increase.
So, the consumer is blamed for the cost of the products they buy? This is insane...................
Correct. Liberals never, ever, take into consideration HUMAN BEHAVIOR. They believe that the world is static and will not change their behavior according to changing conditions. Wars are made of this. The American Revolution was a result of changing behavior. All wars are fought essentially for the same reason: WHO gets to collect the taxes (and how much)...............
What’s interesting is that according to the documentary, San Francisco 2.0, put out by Alexandra Pelosi, it is the city causing the shortage by wooing all the tech companies into the city.
As a former Californian I’m certainly not shedding any tears over their self-created problems.
[Any sentient tech company has, or will, leave SF.]
No, they’ll just pass the cost to the consumer via raising the price of their products. They know tech-idiots like those who go ga-ga over every iPhone release won’t mind paying another $100+ for it.
They are fine with wealth... All the power brokers have vast wealth. What they despise is the underlings being successful; these young know-it-alls that get some money and can sit next to them at fancy restaurants... Just shouldn’t happen! They are fully aware that taxing tech companies will drive some away, and that is fine with them.
They should call it the Austin, Texas Full Employment Act of 2016.
the city causing the shortage by wooing all the tech companies into the city.
With tax breaks.
Also many of the people driving up housing prices are mployees of Google, Facebook and other Silicon Valley companies want to live, and do live, in San Francisco. These are the ones taking the “Google Bus” to work. The tax won’t raise a nickel from them.
The ALTERNATIVE MINIMUM TAX is a law on millionaires.................
Governments view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. ........Ronald Reagan...................
