Unfortunately, there have been plenty of popes in history who have done things that make your point.
Ummm, you meant "example", not "proof".
Even a cursory reading of medieval history regarding the popes shows that very few showed signs of divine inspiration (never mind divinity) unalloyed by mortal failings.
OTOH, a divinely inspired human can do a world of good from such a position of authority, and some have.
