The time factor of responding to a widespread medical emergency doesn’t agree with the premise of a central stockpile having a suitable support response. The stockpile is not applicable as support to an emergency just anywhere in the country.
If a list of pre-selectees were evacuated to suitable compounds, then logistics of support would be more manageable.
To: Lurker
Yep. Wars are won and lost on logistics.

How do they rotate stock?
Hold until ex date then dump?
Halfway to ex date then sell cheap to China?
Better if Cardinal Health or even Walmart maintained extra inventory.
Yes this could only happen if managed by Marc Mezvinsky or some senators spawn.???

a Super Walmart and stick two of those side by side and take out all the drop ceiling, that's about the same kind of space that we would occupy in one of these storage locationsThat would last about 3 days for a 20 mile radius in small town USA. That would last about 3 minutes in NYC.

Hold until ex date then dump? That's what they did with the supplies in the old civil defense shelters. Of course, those have all been shut down for years. Never mind that we need them today more than ever.

"That's what they did with the supplies in the old civil defense shelters. Of course, those have all been shut down for years. Never mind that we need them today more than ever."We used to get cheese and honey from the one near us when they rotated stock every two years. Both quite tasty.

We got free cheese, peanut butter and butter from the excess welfare stuff.
There was a civil defense shelter right near me but they never rotated or gave out anything. There were tours through there and you could get your picture taken in front of the wall of supplies. When visitors came from out of town, that’s where you took them.

...............rows of 130 shipping containers. “This is the 12-hour push package, approximately 50 tons of material,”
Does that come out to 770 pounds per container? That might be one of those pallets in your first picture. The shipping container could be the size of the smallest U-Haul trailer.

The inventory includes millions of doses of vaccines against bioterrorism agents like smallpox, antivirals in case of a deadly flu pandemic, medicines used to treat radiation sickness and burns, chemical agent antidotes, wound care supplies, IV fluids and antibiotics.I'm so glad the author is not letting the terrorists know what we actually have. /sarc

Is this why we have drug shortages in the US? In an emergency these stockpiles may go unused. Forgotten or not accessible. Because they’re secret.

And figuring out what to buy and put in the stockpile is no easy task. The government first has to decide which threats are realistic and then decide what can be done to prepare. “That’s where we have a huge, complex bureaucracy trying to sort through that,” says Redlener
A huge complex bureaucracy....yea...that should work out well.
To: Drango; All
My personal recommendation is that everyone, to the best extent possible, ignores this info and prepares for themselves/their families.
