NEARLY six out of 10 Scots say theyd vote Yes in a second independence referendum.
In a clear reflection of the growing backlash north of the Border to Thursdays Brexit result, a ScotPulse online survey of 1,600 Scottish adults on Friday (24 June) showed that 59% of Scots now back leaving the UK.

Sorry. They blew their shot just 20 months. too bad!! No more blood sucking Greeks!!! YES!
Let them leave - they have few resources and are dependent on largesse from England. Scotland has diminishing oil reserves and it is much cheaper per barrel, scotch whiskey and tourism. It is a net taker from the rest of the UK and is overrepresented in Parliament; only half the Scottish voters per seat in the Commons. No loss, they will have to find someone else to subsidize their welfare state.
Too bad South Carolina and other like-minded States couldn’t have just taken a poll, had an election, and voila: secession in 1860 or thereabouts. With no fuss at all. Easy peasy.
This kind of talk meets cold reality: Scotland does most of its trade with England and there is scant prospect of Europe embracing secessionism.
But if Scots really want to go, England would be happy to shed them off to sink. Scot folly would be their undoing and stick it to England only goes so far.
Best start stockpiling your Haggis Scotties, Germany will tire of your upside down socialist gimmedat economy fast.
If I was in England, I’d want to get rid of them, too.
Welfare moochers.
From this and the Brexit results, it appears they want to leave Great Britain and subject themselves to the EU.
Scotland can join the mutual moocher society ...aka. EU
Agree. Not much ‘there’ there. But, boy, do I miss the beauty way up north. Bleak in the winter....but oh, so beautiful.
This is sort of like West Virginia breaking from Virginia and staying with the United States instead of the Confederate States.
Even the Romans were smart enough to build a wall.
Would the EU accept them? They have very little to offer outside of a demand for a hand out and some oil reserves. England has been carrying them for years.
Wait; this is a poll about leaving >>The UK<<?? (not the EU)
I really do not get this. I must be thoroughly misinformed about the ability of Scotland to stand on its own as an independent nation. Frankly, I have no opinion about it, but every opinion I *do* read is that Scotland is completely incapable of being independent. Opinions being what they are, but I simply have no idea. So this poll is saying they want to stay in the EU and break from Britain?
That would be pathetic. I don’t find anything to celebrate there.
Call the vote, quickly, before Scots change their minds. Independence from the United Kingdom would allow the Scots to gladly show their exuberance for remaining part of the EU.
The Scots have become pretty largely a majority dependent class anyway, with little or none of the rebellious Highlander spirit that kept them self-reliant for centuries.
They would fit in nicely with the EU crowd.
A wall works across the skinny part of the island.
Agreed. See maps.
If you hate being ruled from Westminster because you think you’re colonized by wankers, and you want to stay in the EU, you’re doing it wrong.
