'Germany needs to make UK come to its senses'

Britain leaving the EU means trouble ahead for Germany — and its hardest task will be convincing the Brits to drop a self-defeating ideology, a leading foreign policy expert told The Local.

German business has a lot of vested interest in British markets, explains Josef Janning, head of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) in Berlin.

And that means Germany will have its work cut out negotiating a settlement which gives Britain access to the single market after it leaves the European Union. […]

Being integrated into the single market will mean the UK will have to “swallow the fact that they will have to rubber stamp Brussels legislation” rather than gain the independence promised to them by the Leave campaign. …

No; they could have prevented that if they wanted to, so they are fine with that.

They are just angry that anyone would dare leave the EU.

At first I thought so too, but the more I think about it, Germany has turned in to wusses and whimps and they do not want to be called bad names by anyone, especially the massive WELFARE STATE they Fund.

It is always about the Money!

They want that welfare state. It’s the means by which they dictate to other countries. They could have prevented such a welfare state from coming to be.

Notice that their tone is more threatening than begging, towards the UK. If they were in begging mode, they would have given Britain anything they asked for to prevent a referendum. They look down on Britain.

Didn’t Germany try to get GB’s attitude right twice before? Didn’t end badly?

Why shouldn’t the USA and GB pursue a free trade agreement of their own, with benefits to production, employment, and services to both nations? Put a bit of pressure on the
EU?
