Rest in Peace, now the entire crew of the Ruptured Duck can properly celebrate, this book is probably one of the best stories of the Doolittle mission, told by Captain Ted Lawson:
Do NOT waste your time with the newer remake of 'Thirty Seconds over Tokyo, stick with the original starring Van Johnson, Robert Mitchum and Spency Tracy. FAR superior.

Where do we get such men? Thank you, sir, may you be eternally blessed.
I watched the last salute broadcast live. Moved to tears to see these men. Very tough to see them go.

Info on 100 year old Lt. Col. Dick Cole, the last Doolittle airman.
Picture of Thatcher is down aways, from 2006.
Dick Cole usually comes to this event on Georgetown,DE every year. He is ambulatory and very self effacing as he tells the tale of the Doolittle Raid and he answers questions from the crowd, which I have witnessed myself:

Not a Doolittle Raider but he did fight in China. I took this one around 1995 at a historical society meeting in Georgia.
General Robert L. Scott, Ace and author of 12 books including "God Is My Co-Pilot". He was really charismatic and still sharp at 90.

“Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo” is one of my favorite films. Used to be able to watch it on YouTube for free but not anymore. Fortunately I’ve got the DVD.

Thatcher's death leaves Retired Lt. Col. Richard "Dick" Cole of Comfort, Texas, as the only living airman from among 80 who took off from an aircraft carrier on 16 B-25 bombers to target factory areas and military installations in Japan on April 18, 1942. Damned it!!!
I lived in Comfort for a few years. If I had known He was there I would have thanked Him in person.
